It's true. There was a behind-the-scenes look at the entire set up in the early 1990s hosted by Eric Boardman. They showed the area full of compressed air launch tubes and gave a demonstration of prepping for each night's fireworks show, from loading the tubes to the launch control board.

Sorta reminiscent of how some of the subforum discussions go. Like an old joke I heard years ago: A judge, a fireman, a teacher, and a doctor all sat down to discuss their importance to society. The judge, fireman, and doctor will try to get a speaking turn next time.
