Hi everyone, I just came here to this forum last week. As a gift to the Disney fan community, I have taken the liberty to create a php script to assemble the freely available pictures from http://terraserver.microsoft.com into scrollable and printable versions.

click the link below to go to my site, the printable versions are located below the scrollable versions. The final image when assembled will be about 4 feet by 4 feet

scaling: 100%
margins: 0"
orientation: landscape

enjoy!

nicholas pointed out to me that some printers can't print 5 images across without scaling, so i'm retooling the printer functions, but

i've encountered another bug in my code if the total rows aren't divisible by three (i tested with the magic kingdom, by random chance, it is divisible by 3)

i should have this issue resolved by this evening :)

Here's a visual for everyone. This one is just a mock-up because of the margin error and the vertical white lines that ended up being there because of that. I could remove the white lines, but the the images wouldn't line up correctly. But this will give people an idea of what it will look like as a finished project.

(pay no attentiont to what appears to be stolen PhilharMagic glasses :lookaroun )

wow that's cool! even with the errors, its neat to see people using something that i helped create

ANYWAY, forget "this evening", i have it fixed already, go to my page and check it out, the new version will require more printouts though, as there are less images per page to accomodate some printers not being able to handle 5 columns (like those :zipit: ones at Kinko's!)

I have to say, this is one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time. I was so excited when I first saw this--I spent forever looking at the little details, remarking on how large the Haunted Mansion is compared to it's facade, etc. Very cool, and great job!

I was playing around with the scrollable version, and noticed that I could "download" a section of it to my desktop [I'm on a mac, which means all I have to do is drag and drop]. It saves them as a .ashx or something weird like that. After a small test, it seems that if I download them all, I could piece them all together in photoshop, and save them as another file type. This way, it could be scaled to multiple sizes. Is this going against terraserver's rules? If not, would anyone be interested in it? It might take a while to piece them all together, but it could be easily done. Just wondering.

Thanks again for your hard work, CoffeeJedi!!

Just an update, but I got the whole thing pieced together, mounted, and framed. On Tuesday, the plexi glass should be arriving in the mail and then it will be officially complete. It looks great.

This is kind of what I did on my PC, except rather than save the individual segments I just cranked the screen resolution up to max, took screen grabs then pasted them together in Photoshop. :D

I guess that would work, too. The only thing is I wonder if it would lose any quality. It probably wouldn't matter anyway. What I discovered was that I could move straight from exlporer to photoshop dragging and dropping, and that way, I eliminate having to save them to my desktop. It's much quicker, but the process is still time consuming. I'm about halfway done, working on and off. Once I finish, I'll be able to scale it down to just about any size you guys want. Just let me know.

If you save as a JPEG then yes it would loose some quality - but given the size of the image, it's not that noticable.

Good point--it is massive. I've finished assembling EPCOT. The final image is 3800 x 4600 pixels.
