GF vs. Poly

Okay! I need some imput! My husband I have decided to spend ONE NIGHT in a deluxe resort this time around. We'll be saving money during the begining of our trip (when we'll be hammering the parks more than spending times in our room), and spending our last night in a delux resort. We've narrowed it down to those 2 (we want a lagoon veiw and love both atmopsheres). Any experienced folks out there have a preference?
Thanks in advance!

my vote is the Poly - you'll feel like you left disney and embarked on a trip to a land far away - your "perK' being the view of the Magic Kingdom. I understand your problem, we always have a hard time chosing between the two. If you can spring for concierge, DO IT! The food alone at the Poly is worth it, GF - eh, so so. Either way, you can't lose.:D

Every time we go we stay at the GF because we absolutely love it. I guess it depends on what you are looking for - if you want to stay at that hotel to experience that hotel, my vote is for the GF. If you want convenience, stay at the Poly. Technically it has direct transportation to both Epcot and MK, because you can walk to the TTC, not available at the GF. We also catch ourselves spending more time in the restaurants at the Poly, but we just cannot give up our room at the GF. That probably didn't help at all did it?

Stay At The GF

You can reach MK and Epcot from the GF ... Your next stop is MK and your just two stops away from the TTC from your transfer to a Epcot Monorail.... Have fun and enjoy... Goofy

creme de la creme

My wife and I went to G.F. for our 2nd anniversary in late January. Neither of us has ever been to the Poly. We stayed in a honeymoon suite, concierge, main lodge, magic kingdom view. Pretty much spent as much as you could on a room there without having to go to a suite level (I think the price was just under 600 clams a night w/o tax, 599 or something crazy like that). It was one of those 'once' in a lifetimes you say. Then get home and find a way to make more money so you can experience things like that again!

Well, the reason why I'm writing is that we initially stayed at the Caribbean (which was great), but after a) knowing its the most expensive hotel there and b) walking around in it and c) just how convenient everything was (you will not want to leave)...we just (rather, since I footed the bill) I decided...lets just do it. Let's go crazy...the hotel was that enticing. Polynesian didn't quite catch our eye as much, but was at the top of the list. The parking isn't so hot there either, and I hear if there is a Indy Race or track activity its kind of loud. G.F. is more secluded and private we noticed, which we wanted.

Maybe spend some time at either before you make your decision (funny enough, in advance, couldn't secure the rooms, but nights of, they had plenty of room once we went up to registration in person..weird eh?)

Now, am I saying the most expensive things are the most enjoyable. I guess so : P Kidding. But save enough money for the most expensive (G.F. I think) and maybe take it from there? Make a reservation at both, and cancel the one you don't like after you've seen them (if you haven't already?)

Its such a personal decision.

Have fun (like that's hard).

Thanks folks! Since we want to try and save up for another amazing Victoria and Alberts experience, it would be perfect to stay in the Grand Floridian. :)

BUT this all might change! See my next thread to find out why!

I would have to go with the GF. Since you are going to be hitting the parks earlier in your trip, the GF will be a great place to relax. The rooms are beautiful, and there are wonderful places to eat. I would try to check in as early as possible so you could get the most for you money.

Have FUN!:D

Can't Loose Either Way

I don't think you could loose either way. We've stayed in both and had great experiences each time. My daughter loves cruising the lobby at GF to see the regular visitation of wedding parties, and Victoria and Albert's is a must. The parasol review is also a fun touch (an informal "parade" by the room service cast members).

I very slightly prefer Poly as gives the impression of being in a very different "place". We do always walk over to the GF for the spa and some meals.

To confuse you further, I would put Wilderness Lodge in the mix as well. Slightly less transportation convenient but the atmosphere!

We have enjoyed our stays at both resorts.

My son likes the Polynesian a little better because of the pool so thats where we will be staying at the end of March.

Cant wait!:sohappy:
