::sigh:: My head is just too big. I planned on getting some my first trip to Disney (my honeymoon) back in '96, but they were way too small. I have decided to get a pair on my trip this year and just sit them on a desk or something.

I got a set when I was in high school (late 80's). There was no charge to put your name on them back then. Not sure if this is still the case. One thing I do remember about getting the ears that kind of made me mad at the time is that the CM wouldn't put a nickname on them. Said it wasn't allowed. It wasn't anything odd or rude (molly...long story) but i guess she could tell it wasn't my real name so she wouldn't do it.

I wouldn't mind getting ears for my 4 year old if he wanted them today but I'd feel a little uncomfortable with having his name on them for security reasons. Does anyone know if you can put nicknames on the ears today? Was this girl I was dealing with just being difficult? I find it funny I remember something like that from so many years ago but I found it really odd.

Haven't been since May of '05 (way too long I know). But we bought the Gold Ears w/names on them then, also youngest daughter got her pirate hat w/Captain /Name on it. The kids also have black/w name and pink w/name. Back then when you bought the hats the names were free. Sorry to see its changed. Haven't done nick names and never had a problem at WDW w/anyone saying anything to the girls..appropriate or inappropriate.

I purchased Golden Mickey ears earlier in the year (did not get my name on them though).

I also got a Class of 2006 Graduation Hat with Mickey ears during my senior trip at Disney. I did get my name embroidered on that one, partly because all of the other seniors in my class had gotten theirs done, and I did not want to be the only one without a personalized hat. We did get a really cool picture of all of us with our hats on at a Senior dinner later in the month that the school had.

It's a charge everywhere now. Le Chapeau is the name of the store in MK.

I bought myself my very first pair of Mickey ears last year. Gold ones with my name on it. I have an uncommon name so I very, very rarely get things with my name on it. It has to be customized. So it's super fun to have the ears. I have My Pal Mickey wearing them on my computer desk at the moment.

Yeah, everyone charges now. Even CMs are charged now; I've never paid for the traditional stitching before. I recently bought a pair for my brother, and figured that I might as well get him the deluxe personalization for a few bucks more!

Sorry, still no nicknames, unless they're also real names (e.g. Bill for William). There a few exceptions, such as "Captain Hook" and (I think) "Princess."

As much as I love WDW and DLR, I just don't do mouse ears. I do, however, have many other straw hats, Santa hats with various ears, and so on. The ears just don't look like they'd stay on my bald, pointy head.

I just got my very first pair of Mickey ears the other day (I'm 20 and you'd think after 21 trips to WDW I'd have them, but no). They're tye-dyed and have my name stitched in white.

For as many times as I've been to Disney (19ish) I've never gotten any ears. I do have a little niece or nephew due in December and you better believe we are getting matching ones.
