We were there for Hurricane Jeanne at the Boardwalk.locked in for 24 hours,we were escorted through the buildings to the convention center to eat! The next day there were shingles and debris everywhere but were cleaned up quickly and all was back to normal ASAP.

Why south of Savannah? There really isn't anything south of SAV until you hit Brunswick and nothing after that till JAX. That road has been widened and rebuilt recently so I really don't think the problem will be there. Gas might be a problem to find.
I drove from NYC to NC a couple months ago, lots of construction southbound from just over the Delaware Bridge through Baltimore I wont do it again while go 81/75....brutal trip home that afternoon

WDW has money and insurance. Any damage will be fixed quickly and the likelihood of any significant damage is approaching 0. Their structures are built for Florida hurricanes.

there is always the outside chance a tree blows over on building/ride which takes it out for an extend time but even that would be unlikely

I am at a hotel in Alabama and over heard two families talking about the gas situation. Said there was lots of gas pumps out of gas already. Don't wait to get gas and top off frequently when you get a chance. Blessing for safe travels.

we're driving down there this sunday from NJ. my only concern is if there's any road closures on I-95 along the way, or gas shortages

You planning to do a TR by any chance? I'm from Northern NJ and my wife and I have said it'd prob make sense expense wise to drive down once we have kids. Would love to know the experience.

Basically where I live, a swamp in the Low County. We really don't have flood problems. Everything dumps into the ocean so low tide the water heads out. It's not uncommon for us to 10-12 inches of rain in a day during the summer months. If there is a problem it will be by Hardeeville.
My reference come.from driving to from St Simons/Jesup area. The Chatham area and all those beautiful tide water homes are so low. A significant storm surge would make a mess.

Just had a friend at work cancel her trip. But it was for today-Monday. Word she got was winds were supposed to be at like 40-50mph and rain. That shouldn't be enough to do any damage.

We are going the last week of October and I'm not worried. It takes a lot to ruin my Disney trips and a bad day at Disney is better than a good day at work.
