Getting to the Hess station

A few questions about the Hess station on Disney property:

If staying in a Disney resort, is there available transportation to get there and back? If so, which bus would you be looking for?

I imagine the price for snacks and things for your room in the resort itself will be fairly overpriced. How do the prices compare for the same types of things purchased at the Hess station?

Can I get beer & alcohol there for my room?:D

I know everyone has only great things to say about Garden Grocer, but looking through their website, they don't seem very reasonably priced to me. I know everyone has their own perception of "reasonable". I also understand having something delivered is more convenient, but taking an hour or so out of my vacation to have my creature comforts in my room isn't a real big deal to me.

I don't know about the transportation to and back.

They have beer but I think that's it.

I have to say they were VERY reasonably priced taking into account that it's a convenience store on Disney property.

I remember getting a fair amount of breakfast snacks, candy and a couple o' beers and it didn't come to much more than 20 bucks.

My husband walks to the one near the Boardwalk from the Beach Club. They have wine and beer. I just asked my husband how much the beer was and he said he paid $12 for a 12 pack.

If you really like wine or spirits, just pack them in your checked luggage. I buy a 5 L classy box 'o wine and put it my case. We wrap it up tight with bubble wrap and stick in a bag.

I think I've been living in expensive @ss connecticut too long;).

A buck a beer at a convenience store on Disney property doesn't seem like that much too me...
Again it's relative and I do live in one of the most expensive states in the country..:animwink:

I don't think it's a lot, either. The alternative is spend $7 to buy a single bottle at the Beach Blub Marketplace! I was just using it as a frame of reference. He doesn't remember what kind it was, though. LOL

I want to say I bought a bottle of Barefoot Bay Pino Grigio there for about $7-8 about two years ago.

As was said, you can walk to one of the Hess stations from the Boardwalk

You can walk to the other one from Downtown Disney.

Both are short walks.

My brother rode the bus from DTD back to his room with two cases of beer last trip.

There is no resort provided transport to the Hess. There is always the Taxi option.

Yeah, this was my original thought, except I was thinking of going to the closest walmart. Just looking at all the options and trying to weigh out the pros and cons. We will be there about 10 days & I don't think a 12 pack & a bottle of wine is going to stretch that far.

If I were going to do the cab, I'd do the Walmart. If it were a 24 hour Walmart I'd go really late so you don't pay for sitting in traffic.

Great advice, you can also take a cab right outside of Downtown Disney (down Hotel Plaza Blvd) and on to Rt 535. There's a grocery store as well as a liquor store (ABC Liquors I think its called??) Load up on whatever you need, and take the taxi back to your resort. We have done this plenty of times in the past.

I can't speak for the transportation options to get there (as we always have our car), but I can say that the food prices are VERY reasonable. Not only that, but they have really tasty hot foods like pizza, chicken, and breakfast biscuits.

Keep in mind there is also a Hess Station across the way from Downtown Disney, which is easily accessible via Disney transportation to there, and walk across the street. Good luck!! Marie

Do you know if they allow alcohol to be transported on Disney Transportation? That would be my only concern.

I would imagine it isnt a problem if it is in a bag or covered in some way. I haven't ever bothered to try it though so I can't swear for that. Worst case scenario, take the bus there, get to Hess, purchase your items, walk back over to DTD and catch a cab back to your resort. Marie
