getting really depressed about rain

I know it sounds silly but we are coming in Saturday and there is nothing but rain in the forecast for saturday, sunday, and monday. I decided to splurge on the grand floridian for sat-monday and now it looks like we won't be able to swim at all, or maybe even walk around the grounds. Our magic kingdom day could be a total wash out on Sunday. Sorry, just need to vent. Someone tell me it'll be ok!

It's going to be ok. You can still have plenty of fun in the magic kingdom. Sorry but it's really silly to say it is going to be a "wash out" when there are tons of indoor rides and things to do. See the rain thread. You can even swim in the rain if it isn't lightening. I've done it and it is quite fun to swim in Disney's heated pools. Not to mention you can still walk around and see the grounds. All it takes is wearing a light jacket or having an umbrella... And the likelyhood that it will rain "all" day is low.

It will be fine. We were there for a tropical storm Debbie and we just threw on a poncho and went. We actually rode more rides and did more parks in a short time because the crowds were down. I did miss some sun and pool time, but hey, it's DISNEY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! How bad could that be???

Oh, yeah, we were there for TS Faye and she hung around all week. It was a fun vacation and, like you experienced, the parks were dead.

No doubt we will have a great time. I am just wondering with a 40 percent chance of rain on saturday and a 30 percent chance of rain on monday how much time we will have with a peek of sun or dryness
That's really not that bad. Where I live we don't even take it seriously if it hits at least 70%. I was there in February and we had those predicted values for rain several days and it ended up being we barely got a drop.

Maybe have some tea in one of the GF's many fine corners, while the rain gently falls outside? Should be bliss.

Weather in Fla is always difficult. Between scorching heat, humidity, thunderstorms, hurricanes, a bit of rain in the comfy mid-April temperatures doesn't sound all that bad! :)

Thank you for the hope you have given me! I could care less about a passing shower or thunderstorm. Solid rain for 72 hours... that's just too much

I had the same problem. Suck it up, buy a $15 Mickey poncho and deal. You are going to be on vacation at WDW!!!! Don't get me wrong it blows but would you rather be at work on a sunny day?
I did a TR about our first trip and the first two days are nothing but rain. I got into that self pity mode at first. You could barley look forward for the rain hitting you in the face. After a fun day in the rain and riding Dumbo with a wet butt I look back and laugh at the entire thing. Only thing
I did not like was not getting many pictures. Sorry for the tough love.

Awww, it'll be okay! We don't know what the weather will be, but it will be okay!

And 30-40% could mean no rain. You never know.

Try to make the most of the mornings. While it can (and sometimes does) rain all day, rain usually starts around 3-7 p.m. Usually, if it will be nice at all, it will be nice n the mornings.

Have a rain plan and hope for the best!!

Good luck!

We are going to be there over the same time frame, 4/13 thru 4/17. I really don't think we will see a wash out. When I look at the rain totals for those days on Accuweather, yes the percentages are 30-40%. But the rain totals for each day is about 3 tenths of an inch. That means a few passing showers. I always try to remember that the 30-40% figure doesn't mean it will rain 30-40% of your day but instead it just means that there is a 30-40% chance that the Orlando area could see some rain. You will see some sun and you will probably see some rain showers, but I really think its going to be fine. Have a great trip and enjoy the beautiful Grand Floridian. :)

They are saying a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. That is very common for us in the summer and when temps get around 80. Will build in the early afternoon and pass quickly. No washouts forcasted!

Don't worry about the rain- some of our best times were in the rain! And if you want to stay dry, you'll have time to explore GF or some of the "hidden Gems" in the parks! The plus- it won't be TOO HOT, rain makes everything smell fresh, keeps the bugs away, keeps the sunburn away. If all else fails, have a few drinks and you won't care so much ;)
