Getting nervous about my flight on Thursday...

I am flying out of EWR on Thursday afternoon....

Quick question...they're already canceling most flights out of the airport through Monday. I assume all of those passengers will be re-booking on flights next week.

Am I "safe" for my flight Thursday night? Since I have a confirmed ticket, they can't bump me off to give my seat to someone who was displaced this weekend, right?

Someone calm my fears! I would call the airline (Jet Blue) myself, but I'm certain I wouldn't get through anytime this weekend.

I think you're safe. Those that do get canceled will get put on a later flight and no, they won't bump you to do it. They'll fill available seats with those people. If they have none then they may, may, offer them seats on other airlines. But in all honesty they don't have to go above and beyond for any of those displaced passengers since it was an "Act of God" situation.

Just make sure that you check in and are at the gate ready to board by the appropriate deadlines and you'll be fine.

Though if they need seats on your flight and ask for volunteers, and your schedule allows, you could volunteer to be bumped to the next flight and get an airline credit of some sort. But if you do that, make sure that you'll be getting a *confirmed* seat on the next flight...

I'm thinking you should be good. Not sure where you are flying out of, but I am sure the NY area airports will be open and running by then. Like you I was FREAKING out all weekend. We fly out of Philly Wednesday morning. As of now things are getting back to normal here today.

By Thursday I would think you will be fine. As others have said, be sure to check in as soon as possible for your flight and make sure you are on time getting to the airport. Have a wonderful time!! Marie

You are completely safe..my boyfriend was in Seattle during the hurricane and his flight home was scheduled for yesterday into EWR..we were nervous something would happen to his flight because of the cancellations and delays..but everything was fine..we have a friend visiting cali whose flight was scheduled for this past saturday and now cannot get home until friday..so as long as you weren't booked for last weekend everything will be fine.
