i'm pretty sure that you could never get in free if you stayed on Disney property....it'd be extremely nice...but do you realize how much money Disney would lose if they did something like that? plus, my dad went on his senior trip to WDW back in 73'. they stayed at the Contemporary, and they had to pay for resort and ticket, so, there ya go.

I think I understand your question. Does anyone know if there was a "gate fee" back in the "ticket" days? I know you had to buy tickets to get on any rides; was there also a general admission just to get in the gate? (By the time I started going, they were already selling the all inclusive park tickets.)

There was a gate fee, but I don't remember what it was. I also know that there was a gate fee since day 1 at Disneyland. I even think that there was an entrance fee for the opening, and that was by invite only.

Thank-you, kaos! That was all before my time. (Not my time on earth, mind you, just before I started going to Disney! ;))

Entrance Fees Etc

In the beginning of WDW. There were different types of Ticket books you could buy. The main one was a Ticket Book that had some many A-E Tickets, the first ticket was actually two tickets. One was a Gate ticket and the other was a Transportation ticket for either the Monorail or the Ferry Boat. I can't remember how much they cost though.

When DVC 1st started there was a deal the OKW members got free tickets to the parks until something like 1999. We didn't join DVC until 2001 so I just heard rummors about this on line, but what a deal! ( I may have the year wrong.)
