I always want my news to be 'alternative.' I like to keep tabs on what's happening in other dimensions. They’re saying this “Lucasfilm” knows better than worldofreel.com, your place for alternative movie news?

That's the big kicker. And while the Rey cancelation is just a rumor, obviously. I don't think anyone who is looking at this objectively, would be surprised if it doesn't happen. This whole lead up to these 4 star wars films being announced makes very little sense. It screams "We still have absolutely NO idea what we want to do with star wars". Maybe that's the plan. Let Kennedy just do whatever, and then when she's gone just say "We want to start fresh" then officially cancel everything.I get in someways this is actually normal, but the difference is this stuff was announced publicly. THEN canned
Yeah it’s just a rumor for now but due to the past of this companies projects it’s not hard to believe it’s possible lolThat's the big kicker. Problem with that is George took too long and by the time Disney bought LFL the trio were already in their 60s and 70s.A far better bet would have been finish the journey of the OT characters and had off to the next generation.
No disagreement with waiting too long.Problem with that is George took too long and by the time Disney bought LFL the trio were already in their 60s and 70s.
My personal standpoint on the individual movies aside, I will agree that overall there was probably a better approach that could have been taken to the ST, especially from a story perspective. However with that said I think they were always going to have some issues moving forward once the ST ended. As the question of "where do we go from here now that the Skywalker Saga is over" was always going to be problematic. Do you go forward in time? Do you go backwards? Do you do both?No disagreement with waiting too long.
I do think what and how they choose to tell the story was and continues to be a bigger impact. The evidence is the floundering of it right now.
I’ve said for years that 7 should’ve been the reunion/last hurrah movie for the OT characters while introducing the new ones. Maybe still end the movie with Han’s death and have 8 feature actual training from Luke to Finn. Yes, Finn. Imo Finn’s backstory of being a defected Stormtrooper would’ve made him perfect to be a fresh new face of this trilogy’s Jedi hero. Instead of being a janitor for laughs, make it so he actually did things he regrets and part of his Jedi training is learning to forgive himself. Hell, go all the way and make it like he was the Captain Rex to Kylo Ren’s Anakin. Make the rivalry extremely personal. And at some point yes, Luke would die to protect Finn. Kylo Ren reaches the point where he’s able to overcome his former master or perhaps with help from Snoke who wouldn’t just be tossed aside. Idk just spitballing here and I’ve already made a more compelling story than Disney did with their untold billions. Some SW movies are bound to happen at some point; the Mouse spent way too much money to let it sit idle on the big screen.
Problem is as you correctly point out too many people remain wary after RJ and TLJ.

That’s not what happened. Instead it was a confused and muddled mess from the start in terms of characters.
For now this bears watching as to whether or not it does get delayed/canceled.
I’m fairly convinced a couple of folks using mad libs could have come up with a better storyline(s) that what Rian Johnson did.Star Wars is the new Muppets. Just throw random things at it occasionally and hope something sticks.
I agree there were always going to be issues; I posted about that very thing a while back. Good examples of “eveything before and then everything after” ? As a dividing line?My personal standpoint on the individual movies aside, I will agree that overall there was probably a better approach that could have been taken to the ST, especially from a story perspective. We'll see what happens over the next year, especially now that Filoni is the Chief Creative for LFL only being named two months ago.
Who is claiming their childhood was ruined or is an expert?
Maybe, maybe not. One of the big problems I've seen with lucasfilm/Disney, is their need to be the smartest person in the room. They didn't take the smartest route for the sequels because they wanted it to be their star wars. The big tell in my book was Kennedy's, we don't have years of stories to draw from like marvel. Of course they did, they just didn't want to use them. Sure A LOT of the EU was garbage. Just like a lot marvel. But there are some great stories and characters and ideas in the EU they could have used. However with that said I think they were always going to have some issues moving forward once the ST ended. 100%. Take the same exact storyline the sequels told. But now adjust it so that Luke Leia and Han are the main focus. And those 3 mentor the new group, and then the torch is passed in the final film, The attitude is completely different.I’ve said for years that 7 should’ve been the reunion/last hurrah movie for the OT characters while introducing the new ones.
I would’ve had the torch passing start by the end of the 7th/beginning of the 8th film as Luke trains the new hero realizing he can’t face this new threat himself.100%. And if you notice they have been slowly drawing on the EU and turning some elements into canon with their own spin on them. I suspect we'll see more of that as time goes on.They didn't take the smartest route for the sequels because they wanted it to be their star wars. This is what I meant by problematic. The question and the deeper issue would always be if you can get fans on-board with any new direction post-Skywalker saga. This would have been the case even if the ST didn't cause division in the fandom. Now that the Skywalker saga is complete, the issue will be if they can get most on board with whatever direction they go.
At this point I'd say the smartest play would be going to the old republic. It's far enough away from the baggage of the Skywalker saga but can still have the familiar elements people expect. There's just a lot they could do with it.
The fact that they specifically mentioned it when they announced the Mando/Grogu movie indicates to me that its at least still in the works for now.The Mangold project is going into the origins of the Jedi order, set 25,000 years ago. But as far as I know, nothing has been done with it. It could be scratched (PLEASE NO!!!) or rearranged to reflect a different period. Mangold could be out or could still be in. We don't know anything beyond the announcement. This is what has been so frustrating about SW is that they announce projects and half of them get torched and the other half stay in developmental hell and nobody knows what is going on or IF anything is going on.
