I just have to say that Phase 5 and 6 have me excited on whats to come. Its been pretty clear for awhile now they were hinting at a Secret Wars type climactic event, I'm happy we won't have to wait too long to get it.

That's true for some, but I don't think those two statements are mutually exclusive either. I can say the 2 oz steak is too small for me but the 48 oz one it too large, both can be true. I think some of these 6 episode ones were called too short because they decided to cram everything in the last episode with no build. There was so much junk in the middle episodes, and then the build to the final showdowns was like 10 minutes. 18 is a LOT of episodes. That said, I'm not close to complaining about it right now. There is a TON of storylines they can run throughout the series. Do things to bring in the other characters from other Netflix shows (which we have seen in the universe)? Honestly the episodes are just a number to me. They can have a midseason wrap up of a story line, and lead into the next group easily.
Personally I’m hoping that the longer season allows for more stand alone episodes that allow us to see different (lesser) characters and flesh out the street level MCU without having to have every episode ostensibly work towards the main season plot. I know I’m in a minority but I really miss episodic TV where not everything has to be one long serialized plot in a season.

18 is very interesting, mostly because it’s so dichotomous with 6. The Netflix shows actually were quite criticized for being 13 episodes long. There was a tendency to wrap the main plot in 10 and then reveal the bigger ‘man behind the curtain’ and rush it in the final 3. Every one of those seasons I found they had less compelling wrap ups.

18 I can make an arguement that there is breathing room to actually tell two really good arcs. Traditional network shows would tend to do 23/24 (split 9/13 with the holidays). Again the problem was always the second arc would drag. It would make sense for them to split the show in two halves, but a Spring release for streaming doesn’t leave room for a break per say.

All of which is to say I’m excited to see how they’ll do it since it’s sooo far off the mark from almost anything else D+ has done.

Just to give you more homework… 😂

There are overtly multiverse, not mainline canon shows like Inhumans; but half legitimized by a MoM reference.

Then we have multiverse but actually canon and therefore need/should be watched for a mainline film/story progression things like the old Spider-Man Films.

Like the Rami films really are canon for No Way Home and we can’t argue that No Way Home is anything but a very important mainline movie. The distinction being our mainline protagonists going out into the multiverse, versus the multiverse coming into the Sacred Timeline itself.

Many of the directors have mentioned that the COVID protocols (lockdowns, labor shortages, travel restrictions, shut-downs due to positive tests... and everyone was being tested regularly) were the cause of having to cut corners in the plot since the amount of time they had to film was short.
I get that. What worries me, is as time has gone on, those issues haven't really changed. I'm hoping that these new shows will be better production wise. But from the looks of the cg in she hulk and some of the Kenobi effects, my hopes aren't very high.

Are we thinking its a Doom vs Kang Battle World scenario?

Well, going by the comics, Kang will be the antagonist in a bunch of movies until the Avengers put him down in Kang Dynasty, only to have Doom using that multiverse/time war to bring about Secret War.

But, as hundreds of Marvel vloggers will tell you, the MCU takes liberties. And those hundreds of vloggers won't heed their own warning and tell you the movies will play out exactly like it is in the comics.

You may be in a minority but you're definitely not alone. There are many reasons (ahem, the perfection of Mount, Peck, & Romijn) why Strange New Worlds was received SO much warmer than any of the other Secret Hideout Star Trek shows - but a big one was that people missed the TOS/TNG style adventure-of-the-week episodic format. Just go somewhere, do something, and move on.

Though obviously many other shows had more serialized arcs prior to Buffy (hello, Babylon 5!), I blame Joss Whedon for popularizing the notion that a season needs an arc and a Big Bad to the point that virtually all genre shows adopted that format going forward in emulation.

The plus side of arcs is character growth. The down side is often poorer individualized storytelling where one episode often runs into the next.

Not sure how reliable The Sun UK is, but they’re claiming:

Marvel insiders told The Sun that the chart topper has deals in place which could lock him into their movie world for at least five films.

Harry will reportedly appear in projects as Eros, aka Starfox - the brother of Thanos - the same character that the singer teased at the end of The Eternals movie last year.

LA sources claim that the studio is optioning the former One Direction singer for "as many as five projects".

This could mean that, if his screen adventures prove box-office successes, his pay package with profit bonuses could be as much as $100m - around £84 million.

Gunn was seemingly going to a lot of DC projects after he was done with Guardians. I wonder if the new DC direction puts him in play for any upcoming series/films.

Warner Bros Discovery is a dumpster fire right now. And how they're dealing with DC properties is even worse. Not that they were doing well with the DCEU before the merger, but since then, it's all disasters. And their fandom is more toxic than the Star Wars fandom menace.

The only consistently good DC property is IMO Young Justice.

Gunn's got plenty to do with Peacemaker and other Suicide Squad spin-offs at DC. Tho, with the new CEO's maxim that any theatrical release has to be a tentpole, it's unlikely they'll greenlight a Gunn suicide theatrical sequel. And more than likely, they'll kill the HBO spin-offs.

They're a mess.

There are rumors going around that HBO Max is going to be merged into Discovery Plus, or just get shutdown completely. There is suppose to be some announcement Thursday (8/4), we'll see if it happens. But it appears they're killing off their scripted content. So I expect all the HBO Max projects such as Peacemaker and other DC stuff to get cancelled here soon just like Batgirl. So while Peacemaker might get a second season, that might be the end of it.

Hmmm... If Oscar's in Cairo for more Moon Knight, it must be for pre-production because I doubt all three personalities will have a full beard.
