Gas Prices

$1.94 at the Dairy Mart at SR747 and Route 4. Other places are at $1.99. I love the way it moves around as you approach a weekend. Also, let's see. . .if a barrel of crude goes up a dollar and there are 55 gallons in a barrel, wouldn't that make the price change about $.02? I do not know the amout of oil required to get a gallon of gas but I can't imagine it being over a 1 to 1 ratio.

The price swings around here are $.15 to $.20. :fork:

 The UK's always had higher gas prices than the US. :p
Sad thing is, the actual raw material gas itself costs the same here as America. It is triple the price because the goverment taxes the snot out of it. You also get taxed $200 or so a year just for taking the car out on the road and about $70+ for an annual test certificate. They are now charging $10 tax to drive into London, are looking to extend it to other cities and the first toll highway has been installed with thoughts of converting existing highways to toll roads.

All this is to aparently get us to use public transport. Which is in a mess - unreliable, infrequent and expensive.

Thankfully I have a short commute and getting over 70MPG (Imperial Gallon) means I can get to work and back on about £3 or so a week on my Yamaha Majesty.

Gas here (30 miles NE of Atlanta) is $1.85 for regular.

BARNUM: folks in Georgia have to pay an annual tag fee as well. The newer the car, the more expensive your tag is. $25.00 to have your car tested for emissions in order to get your tag. My SUV is now 5 yrs old and it still cost me $250.00. My '66 Chevelle cost $6.00. The older cars should cost more since they are the ones that pollute the environment. Go figure.

PS - the Chevelle will be sitting in dry-dock for a while since gas is so outrageous.

$2.03 in SW FL and I have to pump it myself! I sure do miss NJ when I am at the gas station!:p
I don't know where in SW Florida you are getting gas, but it's $1.97 almost everywhere in Ft. Myers.

I heard on the news this a.m. that we can expect gas prices to go up even more around here, in time for the upcoming 3 day weekend, with lots of leaf peepers heading up to the north country. They always jack the prices up even more on weekends where they expect lots of traffic. Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and now Columbus Day... guess I can expect them to go up again for Thanksgiving & Christmas. Think I'll start burning cooking oil!!

Oh god, is it leaf peeper season already? *sigh*
The leaves have started turning here, but I haven't noticed any increase in traffic yet.

Filled up yesterday & its down to $2.01/ gallon....thats almost $45 dollars to fill up the tank.

Our leaves have just started to change... not a lot of color yet... but guess lots from CT head up to NH & VT, the foliage report was that they're near peak. I never could really understand that... to drive to look at leaves...

Gas for me @ $1.96, costs $50. to fill, more or less... I love my "burb"... but I'm seriously thinking of looking in to something smaller... it'll have to have roof racks though... I'll just strap the kids & their friends up there!

Anyone who travels to see the leaves change colors is a leaf peeper.

For some reason here in the NE, they run bus trips...everybody has to see the leaves. Alot of them are from nearby states so their leaves change too!

I just don't get it; it is my favorite time of year though.

What's the dream car you're getting? I'm hoping to get a new Scion tC really soon, unless I choose the Chrysler 300...hmmm, choices!
