Anyone recently used one of these services for deliveries to WDW Resort hotels? We are flying in and don't have a car to go pick up food, baby items...seems like a good idea.

Questions:
-Is it reliable?
-How does it work?
-Do you have to have a phone number for them to contact you?
(Are cell phones probalby won't work there)
-Reviews on above services--good, bad, etc.

Also, anyone ever bought a stroller online to be delivered??

Any help is appreciated!
:)

you can always send a UPS package to the resort that you will be staying at.
I have done that before and its fairly inexpensive and easy

I looked into Garden Grocer for our last trip since we were travelling with a baby. It seemed to be too pricey for us. For the three or four days we were at Disney, it was easier just to stick lots of diapers/wipes/baby cereal in our suitcases. We ended up buying some formula and baby food at the gift shops. Now, if you are staying for a longer time or would have to pay to take another piece of luggage just for the baby's stuff, it might be worth it.

A tip about the strollers. Depending on the age of your child, you may want to have your stroller for in the airports. We took ours from home and could easily check it at the gate, right before boarding the airplane. This didn't cost us anything. That way, we knew that our baby would be comfortable.

Thanks for the advice. For the amount of time we'll be there we will need a lot of diapers, wipes, etc.. Way too much to pack, unfortunately! I think we will bring a cheap stroller for the convenience in the airport.

Still debating...

Someone has also suggested we go shop? Any opinions?

Thanks

I used Garden Grocer last year and was very pleased with their service. I also had an infant and needed diapers, etc. We were there for a week and bought a case of water bottles which was much needed during September! They also delivered fresh fruit, breakfast bars, capri sun, etc. I think we spent about $75 and really ended up having too much food, but it was better to be prepared and not spend more money at the parks! Hope this helps!

I ued Garden Grocer and would definately do so again. You have to hve a inimum $50 order but there is no delivery fee. They also bing alcohol but that is done as a curtesy and is not part of their shopping list. Schedule early as time slots fil up. Also let your resort bell desk know to expect the suff in case you aren't there. We actually arrived at Pop Cnetury and ourstuff was waiting on us. Wehad our beer and win before our bags.

We used Garden Grocer last visit and over all they were fine. They did send us the wrong type of bread and it took a day and a half to get the correct one... but it was my wife's, so no issue for me! :lookaroun

Ever since the first time i took a baby with me and needed the diapers, etc., i have used gardengrocer evey time i go.
the convenience of having the stuff there, not having to stop to shop, not having to get up and out earlier to stop for breakfast (quick cereal or muffin and we're good to go), is SO worth the few extra bucks it costs to have it delivered. it is FAR cheaper than disney breakfasts every morning. and compared to the total price of your trip???!!!!
we keep some snacks and sodas in the room for when we go back in the afternoon. another savings.
they have always been reliable, as has Disney who puts it in their frig for us when it is delivered, so that we can even order perishables.

i highly recommend using this service.

We used GardenGrocer.com in December 2008. With 3 kids all in diapers, there was no way I was going to pack enough for them for a weeks vacation. Formula was easy, I just put the canned powder into ziploc bags and took the scoop with us. We used the grocer for snacks, juice, milk, bananas, wipes and whatever else we needed. We didn't order the minimum to get free delivery, which was about $20, but it was worth it in the end.

Thanks everyone for the great responses! I feel a bit more relieved now. We are heading out in October for over 2 weeks and that's a LOT of diapers, wipes, water, etc..

I will definitely go this route now...

I appreciate everyone's help.

I'll be another voice to chime in about Garden Grocer...I was just looking oin their site the other day infact getting our listready for our trip in a few weeks..I usually book the order about 2 weeks before our trip , just because they do book up it seems rather quicky in the fall months. But I also do it early to relieve my mind. To me price wise it much , much cheaper than having breakfast at the resort or even a late nite snack....The prices are typical of what you would find at a Supermarket versus a Superwalmart..But so worth it, as compared to shopping at one of the resorts "general "stores..

But I say try it..We've also bought wine through them which you haveto put in as a special request ..Ohh also if there is some thing that you really wan't, but don't see put that in as a special request to ..We've used them for the past 5 yrs and knock on wood have had good luck!
I also make sure to tip very well when I put the order through..But thats just me!
If anything, go on the site and price it out..see if its worth it for you and your family!

Months. Call ASAP. We called several months and they were able to get us in but our options were very limited. If they can only do it days before your trip call the bell desk at your resort and tell them. They may be able to refrigerate your perishables for several days if you are getting any.

We've used Garden Grocer for several years. I put the order in a month ahead of our arrival date and have never had a problem getting the delivery date or time I wanted.

The prices are kind of high, but they're still cheaper than the alternative. Last July, we spent $275 on groceries that fed four people three times per day and two people (my parents, who were staying in another hotel) once or twice a day for eight days. That's A LOT cheaper than if we'd eaten at quick service restaurants for the entire trip.

Of course, a lot of people don't want to cook while on vacation, but we didn't mind. One of the benefits, besides saving money, is that you can get meals done quicker and get right out to the parks or activities.

For a 2 week vacation, it might very well be worth it. I still think, though, you should price out how much it would cost for them to deliver the items you need vs. taking an extra suitcase or two. Depending on your airline, it could be more economical to check the extra bags. If you don't want the inconvienence of getting more luggage to the airport, though, Garden Grocer is the way to go.
