Garden Grill character lunch tests

Hope this is true, I had the character lunch there in 2007, and very much enjoyed it. I always like to do the lunches at EPCOT, same amazing food, and lower prices. :)

This would probably bring more draw to The Garden Grill. Which characters roam there? I've seen Chip & Dale, Mickey, Pluto, and Minnie?

I never would have thought that they would have had any trouble maxing out reservations for a character dinning resturaunt. Why did they take it away in the first place?

I can't give you any information as to why the character lunch was removed but the character breakfast was removed shortly after 9/11.

If it comes back it will probably be one all day menu and same prices as at dinner, like so many other locations now. I never understood why they took lunch away either when they could be making money.

How about bring the lunch back without characters and charge lunch prices? Either family style buffet or plated service. It would be great if they would also bring back their AMAZING catfish. It was worth paying the ridiculous character buffet dinner prices for that catfish occasionally.

Agree, it would be nice to have one character-less lower priced lunch there. Same with Norway.

If they would bring back the character breakfast, I would be very happy. The cinnamon rolls, the scrambled eggs, and the ham were to die for.

Don't know about character breakfasts, but my wife and I had breakfast there on our honeymoon in the early 90's... Dang, was that good (just like breakfast at Tony's Town Square back then). It is too bad what the DDP has done to food on property.

Just wondering people keep throwing around the DDP as the excuse for cost vs. food quality. Has anyone stopped to think that it could be something else? I mean in the last few years there have been several bad droughts across farm country in the USA and the economy and gas prices are incredibly high 3 things that drastically drive up the price of food and make less high quality ingredients available. I just always think that some people here can be pleased with anything. They offer a new selection at Pinochio's restaurant and people complain that they took something away and then they are thinking about adding back a lunch option that was once taken away and people complain about it before we know the real details at all. I think the food industry across America is going through a hard time right now and most of us are accustom to life in a bad economy. I mean in the last 2 years I have been to several nice restaurants in NYC that I use to love and walked out unsatisfied because their prices are higher but there food just isn't the same any more. You can't blame anything like the DDP for a similar circumstance happening outside of Disney.

Food prices have gone way up everywhere and it's going to get worse. The culprit is Congressional ethanol mandates. My friends and I were just talking about this the other day because I had seen a documentary about ethanol: over 1/3 of the country's corn crop goes to ethanol production. When big droughts hit (like this year), that means that much less corn is produced for food than normal...and then 1/3 of that gets diverted from food into ethanol. Corn is turned into "corn syrup" and is a key ingredient in almost all processed foods.

Corn is also the feed that animals raised for meat products are raised on...so an increase in corn prices causes increases in almost everything you buy.

Another factor for higher food prices is gasoline...when the price at the pump goes up, you see it at the grocery store because food requires gasoline for the harvesting and processing and shipping across the country.

This year, both corn and gasoline prices are through the roof...so all restaurants are feeling the pinch.

My husband was in there restaurant business for many years and you'd be surprised how small a profit margin a restaurant has. Fluctuating food prices can hit a restaurant really hard, even ones like Disney's that can buy in large volumes and can command good shipping and delivery deals.

But is that a reason for tacos to cost $14? ;)

Nonetheless, I spent $25 for lunch at Olive Garden a few days ago. For nearly the same price, I could have eaten at Epcot!
