Nevermind on that restaurant I just realized it was way out of the way. I don't know why I was thinking it was in Kemah.

There's a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Kemah at the boardwalk also. It's where Joe's Crab Shack used to be. If you want a fun atmosphere Bubba's is good. I was talking to my oldest son about it and we both think for good food/seafood Landry's would be a better option. Are you staying in Kemah or Galveston?

Galveston. I want to be close to the ship in the morning but would be willing to go a little out of the way on the way to Galveston to eat at someplace fun with the kids. I really want some seafood but I am the only person in my family that eats it so it would have to be a restaurant that is good and also has plenty of other alternatives that are non-seafood. For example burgers, chicken, steak, etc... If it is a place that is all seafood but say one chicken dish that is just there for the random non-seafood lover that probably wouldn't fly with my wife :)

I gotcha. No, I haven't been to that place in San Leon. When we go to Galveston we typically do like Rainforest or something like that. The Rainforest Cafe does have a raft ride in it. It's super cheesy but it's still fun. There's a place across from the sea wall called 'The Spot'. That seems to be a popular place for burgers and stuff. Also, over by where the cruise terminal is there's a few restaurants that look interesting. Never been to them, tho. It's sad that there's so much so close to us but we never go. LOL!

Yeah, I'd stick to the toll roads if you can. I know it's not fun to spend that $$ but the 610 loop during rush hour on the south side around Hwy 59 & Hwy 288 is God-awful. Literally, it's a parking lot. They've widened that stretch as much as they possibly can. Some spots are 8 lanes wide and it'll still be a parking lot. I got caught in that area during rush hour once when leaving the VA hospital downtown and it took me better than an hour to get past 59 & 288. Again, if you want to avoid the construction cluster on I-45 south of Beltway 8 I highly recommend coming down Beamer Rd. It'll be slow going because you won't be the only one following that route but at least you'll be moving. When you make the turn onto 2351 you'll be about a mile from where I currently live. Definitely familiar with the area. ;) Once you get to I-45 it may be a bit slow until you get past Bay Area Blvd. but it should loosen up by time you pass the NASA Bypass. From there, unless there's a wreck, you should be able to move along at normal interstate speeds all the way into Galveston.

Also, if you need anything there's a fairly new & nice little outlet center at Holland Rd. (Texas City). ;)

I found this thread and find it very helpful! We are taking our first cruise in December from Galveston. We have booked the Harbor House for the night before stay since we are flying in. We hope to extend our stay at visit the Space Center. I will check into the car service you recommended. Thank you!
