Gaining weight in Disney

I usually gain 3 - 5 lbs. We only eat 2 meals and almost no snacking. I even get up about 5:30 AM and go for about an hour walk in the morning while the girls sleep and sometime even swim laps in the pool if I have time before we head for the parks. I don't know how anyone can lose weight on the 3 meal per day plan.

We rarely eat 3 meals a day while at WDW. It's eiter a normal breakfast at the resort, some snacks during the day at the park, and then a big dinner at a sit down place. Or else it's a light breakfast, a big lunch, and a light dinner.

I don't think I really gain or lost weight on a trip. But we usally walk more leading up to the trip to get used to all that walking

I'm at the age now where I can gain weight simply by looking at food, so I figure I might as well enjoy it at WDW. Dispite all the walking I usually gain a couple of lbs every time we go. But it's SO worth it!!!

WIth all the walking we do we always lose 10-15 pounds. No Joke, My husband & I both end up loseing some weight. Then when we get home we say, lets keep it off and we gain it back. We love to walk & we are really big fans and we love to see everything. So we end up walking no-stop.

We too lose weight. We usually just eat counter service for the majority of our trips because it is quicker but so unhealthy. Also you'd think those Mickey premium bars and Main Street ice cream sandwiches would be the deal breaker but somehow we always manage to lose weight, I guess cause of all the walking and adrenaline. That's one of the reasons I love WDW so much. It's magic. If I ate at home like I do there I would gain 50 lbs.

I try to stick with my normal routine of a jog sometime during the day at the resort.

Where do you find the time to jog???? We are going from the minute we get up until we drop in the bed at night.

For us - a trip to WDW involves walking / standing for probably 10 hours a day  we exercise more on holiday than when we're at home so the lbs come off rather than go on

For most people, the walking that you do at Disney, burns no more calories than any other day with "normal" activity. Any good cardio specialist will tell you that you dont really start burning excesive calories unless you walk constantly for a minimum of 20 minutes. Sooooo, if you go to Disney, or any other vacation, and eat more, or higher calorie foods than you normally do, you are more likely to maintain your weight or gain.

For those that lose weight while eating more tend to have higher than normal matabolisms (sp?) anyway and any extra physical activity kicks yours into gear quicker than the rest of us poor souls.....

I usually wind up gaining a little too, simply because I wind up eating more often. At home, breakfast is 1 or 2 cups of coffee, lunch is more of a snack that I grab between crises at work, and dinner is about the one decent meal. I also get a lot more intensive exercise at home as opposed to just walking. At Disney, I usually eat three square meals a day with the family, so I'm simply eating more on vacation.

Thankfully, I ________ it all off when the credit card bill comes after the trip.

Because your usual trips are what? Just a few hours. :fork:
Someday I'll live close enough to pop in every afternoon if I want to also! :p

Oh my gosh! I thought I was insane, but I gain weight too! I mean, come on, we walk MILES a day and eat maybe one big meal and some snacks, but I do gain weight. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Diet

My husband is in the military and needs to lose 10 lbs and I just had a baby. We are both trying to watch what we eat and at DW that is kinda hard. Anyone know of some places there that serve really good salads or diet type meals? I hope all the walking helps us and it prob. will him but we women have to work a little harder.
