My husband is in the military and needs to lose 10 lbs and I just had a baby. We are both trying to watch what we eat and at DW that is kinda hard. Anyone know of some places there that serve really good salads or diet type meals? I hope all the walking helps us and it prob. will him but we women have to work a little harder.

I'm on a strict diet due to medical conditions. I've never had trouble trying to find healthful meals, you just need to know where to look. One of my favorite meals is the salmon plate at Tusker House in DAK. Most places now have salads & veggies. Check out the menus at allearsnet, thats one of the easiest ways to plan out your meals...

We also have a menu forum right here, give it a try.

too late! already read it and what are elephant ears? have to find out and i am sure they are not on my diet. hehe oh well, i plan on enjoying myself so i guess i will just starve myself before i go.
Starving yourself will only add body fat. In preparation for your trip, try to work on your consumption. Cut back on your portion size. After just s few weeks of doing so you will find a reduction in your appetite. Get used to not making happy plates so when you get to WDW, you won't feel the urge to pig out. Feel free to enjoy the bad stuff but in smaller amounts and more frequently. When in Epcot, don't go to France and park yourself with a box of pastries. Rather, go right before lunch time, have a couple of treats, skip lunch and have a couple more treats a little after lunch time.... Hope it helps. :)

Or you could just say the h#ll with it and deal with dieting when you get home...

I gained weight my last trip despite all the walking. Chicken strips, burgers, fries etc...I guess I enjoyed my self a little too much lol. I seriously came home heavier. However since that last visit I have lost 35 pounds. So this time around I hope to take advantage of the salads, wraps etc that are available because all the fried stuff isn't welcome in my tummy any more. Hopefully I'll lose weight this time. :D
Don't count on it! :lookaroun

I never loose weight or gain weight I always stay the same as I eat alot of food I normally would not eat on a normal day, but I walk alot so I burn the calories.

I've just got back and I managed to lose quite a bit of weight with all the walking I did. I also ate loads, including chocolate for breakfast.

I was really worried, but with the exercise I got dragging my boyfriend between parks, I looked better when I got home than I did when I arrived.

we are not bringing the kids this time so we will be able to cover more ground so hopefully that will help me. we have been on diets for over a month now so have gotten used to what we can and cannot eat. i think we should be ok and still be able to have a treat now and then. thanks for all the great advice.

We just moved from the Orlando area 3 months ago and have not changed our diet save for one thing, we do not have access to Disney (walking or eat). In 3 months I have lost 13 pounds and my wife has lost 10.

Good thing we are heading back to the Food and Wine Festival in a couple of weeks, my pants were starting to fit again.

Given the amount of walking I do at the parks in a day, I can't imagine gaining any weight, no matter what I'm eating...

I have to agree
Especially being there in the summer, walking and sweating. My sister went with me this year, it was her first trip and she made the same comments.

I gained 7 lbs the last time I was there...one the deluxe dining plan. yeah I walked all day, but I also was eating like crazy. I always gain a little bit but usually can get rid of it within a week or so of coming home. lucky or unlucky for me i live only 2.5 hours away and we go to Disney at least once a month! so much good food though. YOLO!

ZOMBIE THREAD!!!!

I don't now, but I used to gain a few pounds on my trips. I ate fast food and restaurant food for EVERY meal. I don't know how anyone could do that and not gain, unless they ate like a tablespoon full of food.

Now, if I eat at WDW (which is rare), I am eating fruit, Craisins or lettuce with fat-free dressing. So, I'm not gaining. Yay.

I do too much walking to gain any weight and I can eat. I burn so much energy I barely go to the bathroom while at Disney and Disney is one of the few places I'll use a toilet away from home.

I agree with a lot of members here - I do so much walking which seems to cancel out all the extra/ more unhealthy food I eat while I'm there. Because of the heat (which I'm really not used to!), I drink a lot more water than usual too, which actually makes me feel less hungry than I would usually.

One Little Spark...
I normally stay about the same, but I also jog a few days a week while at the parks.

This past trip, my kid ballooned up. When I dropped her back off with her mother, she (her mom) made several comments about it.

I swear, it was just because she was about to hit a growth spurt! But, while on the trip, she does indulge and I don't say no! But, we do eat at a lot of Table Service, which gets her a bit more balance. I do wish that kids menu's at Disney were a bit more balanced. It seems like every place, even the Table Service (outside of signature dines) has a kids menu that is pretty much fast food. I know it's popular with the kids, but I'd like to get her some veggies!

I love watching my 2012 trip vid, because by the end, you can see the pudge of her stomach, compared with the shots at the beginning of the trip. It makes me chuckle.

Despite walking over 63 miles in the parks on our last trip (January), I still managed to gain 5 pounds! And we pretty much had a small breakfast in our room, carried a few snacks to the parks (granola bars etc.) and had one meal a day! It happens.

please tell me someone else out there is a gaffigan fan. he literally mentioned this exact thing. essentially saying Disney is the only place in the world you can walk around for twelve hours straight sweating nonstop and still gain weight.

I don't even weigh myself simply because I don't want to know and I'm super critical of myself. The last time I went, I drank lots of water and tried to incorporate more fiber into my diet there. However, I'm in better shape now than I was at the same time 3 to 5 years ago and can walk without feeling tired.

I gained 6lb in a fortnight this time. But I do put weight on easily anyway ( I've always walked long distances with my dogs and never found it makes any difference)
we had the dining plan this time so 2 fatty, sugary meals a day plus a snack.

Last time we where not on the dining plan and only ate one meal a day ( sometimes shared between two) and i still put on a couple of pounds
Its hard to find anything that is not deep fried or drowned in cheese. But hey i've lived off pretty much veg and nothing else for two years so to heck with the diet for once ,lol

With me being a 11 year old kid I really don't know. Of course I love their food and all but since I spend most of my time at Disney doing waterparks, mini golf, the pool, and walking I don't think so. But I know a lot of people are in the same boat as you. Also since I play soccer 5 times a week and am really fit I cant tell if I gain a few pounds.:)

Just wondering if any one of you actually gain weight in Disney. I excersize everyday and cut out a lot of junk food in my diet. But in Disney I always gain a few pounds. Yeah I eat like crap but I do walk all day and night.

Just wonder if anyone else is in the same boat.

Getting easier to not gain weight....can't afford their food.
