Just wondering if any one of you actually gain weight in Disney. I excersize everyday and cut out a lot of junk food in my diet. But in Disney I always gain a few pounds. Yeah I eat like crap but I do walk all day and night.

Just wonder if anyone else is in the same boat.

Given the amount of walking I do at the parks in a day, I can't imagine gaining any weight, no matter what I'm eating...

Disney Calorie Free

Hey,

There is some worth in the myth, or belief, that Disney is Calorie Free, so eat what you want. Why? You burn vast amounts of energy in all the walking you do, the adrenlin you go thru and the sheer excitement, nervous energy etc.... and of course in the U.S cases (hardly Disneyland Paris or Tokyo) the heat, so there may be some truth in it!

So eat and enjoy, but don't go mad just in case we don't burn of vast amounts and this is not entirely true.

Just remember to drink plenty of water too!

I eat like a crazy person and don't gain a pound because of all the walking. In fact, sometimes I lose weight. Wow. 3 huge meals a day and lose weight. Can I live there all the time?

I usually lose weight when I go to WDW what with all the walking, running, jumping up and down with anticipation... but this time... with all that free food on the dining plan :lookaroun ... I'm going to be a little hard pressed to keep the weight off.

Oh well. I'd much rather eat it all than restrain myself. That is what vacations are for, after all!

I went in the summer.

Surprisingly. We had the Dining plan, which I thought would fatten me up.

But like others said, you are really burning the calories, doing all the walking.

pushing a child everywhere, carrying and lifting them and the stroller helps too. Being in the pool alot helps as well.

Did not gain a pound the whole trip.

I gained weight my last trip despite all the walking. Chicken strips, burgers, fries etc...I guess I enjoyed my self a little too much lol. I seriously came home heavier. However since that last visit I have lost 35 pounds. So this time around I hope to take advantage of the salads, wraps etc that are available because all the fried stuff isn't welcome in my tummy any more. Hopefully I'll lose weight this time. :D

You probably normally burn more calories from exercise daily than you do walking at Disney, which is the opposite of the effect it has on most people.

I'm in the same boat as you, and almost found my way into the gym at the resort when i was there last week - but nah ;)

However, if i dont eat just burgers and fries, and use the dining plan to branch out my palette, I can stay trim and svelt. It's a little harer without pure and simple around with sugar free mousse and turkey wraps in one place, but definately do-able.

On my average 10 day trip I usually LOSE 3-5 pounds. It is a pretty nice feeling because I eat whatever I want and still lose the weight.

Lost 4 pounds this last trip. :sohappy:

I still eat, maybe even a few more goodies than normal, but all that walking around is great exercise and really burns off the calories.

We went last month with the dining plan for a week and I had no problem, nor did the rest of the people I was with and we are people who tend to gain weight easily. I think with the dining plan people tend to freak out at the amount of food offered, but when you think about it, you generally eat healthier at a sit down meal than counter service where everything worth eating seems fried. The walking of approximately 10 miles a day helps too as well as being in the pool.

Even thought I eat much more when we go, I don't think I've ever actually gained weight. Along with all the walking at the parks, I try to stick with my normal routine of a jog sometime during the day at the resort.

I'm in the category who lost weight. When I went the last time I lost like 3-5 pounds because I was doing WAY more walking than I do around my hometown and I was too busy to eat anything. I was constantly on the go, so I kept forgetting that I was hungry, so I hardly snacked at all!

Isn't that a cool concept? Burn more calories than you take in and you lose weight. Wow - too bad that doesn't work all the time! Oh wait .. it does ..

I usually loose a small amount of weight. It is usually all the walking for me. Also the lack of stress and ainxiety from work.
Or burning off calories smiling like this :D for one week straight.
