i can see a 'banshee' covering the pneumatics/hydraulics above the gondola, turning it from a cab to a hanging bench seat...
im predicting when we lock ourselves in the RV that will serve as us locking in the nueral cord thingeeExactly, from that picture (if that is indeed the ride system they use), you can see how they could do some great theming by having the hydraulics dressed up as an actual Banshee who is carrying a gondola where the guests are sitting. Would make sense in terms of the story as well since we humans don't have the neural cord thingees to connect with/control/ride the Banshees themselves so it can be addressed by having a Na'vi on the Banshee.
I think it is easy to in that picture how a Banshee shell over the mechanics not only would make great theming, but would also provide some nice isolation for each bank of guests and increase the immersion (unlike Soarin' where everyone else is very visible).
No way. If I don't get that actual neural cord thingy the whole ride is a fail.im predicting when we lock ourselves in the RV that will serve as us locking in the nueral cord thingee
Any chance that the early leaked plans aren't what actually what is being built? Maybe I missed something covering that earlier, but would that be logical?
Yea I'm thinking vekoma could do a hybrid ride system. The ride system itself would be the normal flight simulator while the vehicles will look more like Pandora's box vehicles. I think wdi won't just use straight soarin gliders again for the mountain banshee this will be different for sure. That is Vekoma's Pandora's box system. It has been discussed here before and there were some reasons why people believed that it wouldn't use that system. Can't remember why they thought this, but one reason I can think of is it was be a very low capacity compared to the other ride system shown above.
I'll wait for the media department to divulge the details of the ride system, it ain't worth my job. I will point out that there is a difference between a mock-up and a first article. A mock-up is used for buyoff, a first article will become part of the project. (i.e., the plaster carvers for Prince Eric's Village behind Mine Train were the same ones who did Gaston's Village. They were similar finishes, so they didn't have to perform mock-ups, just a first article that got bought off by creative and continued. The same thing can happen with ride systems). We said that you will feel like you are riding a banshee, would you really feel that way on the Soarin flight simulator?

Yeah, I think a realistic best case scenario is they have a model of a Banshee -- perhaps clearly with a Na'vi riding on top -- which carries a gondola where the guests sit. This would allow multiple people to be "riding" each banshee, so you can have a decent number of guests per screen assuming there are a few banshees in each room.

I believe that Disney and Cameron have finally come to an agreement! They've found a way to have something mind blowing (Cameron's requirement) and not too expensive. All they need to do is hire about 20 neurosurgeons, buy 10 or so smallish power supplies, and a crapload of copper wire and anesthetics. First a few small holes will be bored into your skull (not for everyone I know, but bear with me). Then copper wires will be attached to a few of your pleasure centers. The exposed end (in this case I mean the bit sticking out of you skull) will be hooked up to the power supply and you'll be able to make queue love, just like in the movie! Plus, you can get the surgery done before your trip as part of Next Gen! Since this won't take up much space, Rohde can have most of the area back. It's a win, win for everyone!

Here is a comparison between an aerial image of what is being build and the leaked plans.

I agree George, it will be like ET but not exactly. there will be bike styled seats but they will be on the wings of the mountain banshee and the head could be animatronic/projection mappedIts gonna be just like those bikes on the ET ride. Instead of ET in front, think banshee head. :lookaroun
Is the building housing the ride big enough that redundancy could take care of any capacity issues?
