Future Plans for Tomorrowland

So I was talking to a cast member today and was told that Disney had plans to completely Refub. Tomorrowland at DL! He stated that there goal was to return it to the way it was prior to 1990, with the Astro Orbiter back on top of the people mover station as well as bring the people mover back. He also told me that there was a possibility that they would be removing Honey I Shrunk the Audience and replacing it with Stitches Great Escape!

Anyone know anything about this?

I see signs of the return of the old Tomorrowland with the resurfacing of the subs as well as the return of Tomorrowland Terrace(Formerly Club Buzz)

I wouldn't trust what a CM says....they're like the bus drivers at WDW.

The first part sounds pretty neat, but Stitches Great Escape?? :hurl:

I concur... you think Disney would learn its lesson.

Though that would be fantastic to have the Astro Orbiter back on top of the people mover loading area (especially since it creates so much congestion) and the People Mover itself back up and running, I won't be crossing my fingers. It's just a cast member rumour (unfortunately).

I had a CM tell me they were bringing back the People Mover also, she had seen them doing some work on the tracks also, but that was last year so it might have had something to do with Nemo. I would love to see Shrunk get replaced, Stitch would be OK but I'm against the direct cloning of most attractions from park to park. I would like to see something new.

I`ve heard non-CM mutterings about using the Peoplemover track for some kind of attraction-that-moves-along-a-rail; but it`ll neither be a Peoplemover as we knew it, WEDway as we know it or Rocket Rods as we almost knew them. It hangs on Nemos popularity and the overall buzz of the land come the end of summer. I`d say it`s more than 50/50 that within 5 years the land will have some sort of highway in the sky again - and by then WDW will have lost it`s `best Tomorrowland` claim.... something it has virtually done already compared to how it was 12 years ago IMHO.

I`ve also heard about moving the AO at DLC back to its rightful home.

Agreed! I like to have some attractions that are unique to one park. People talk about sending Indy and Pirates Lair over to WDW, but I personally would like to keep them unique to DL, one of a kind.

There has been some rumors/ news going around the internet for a while regarding the People Mover. One idea was to make it into an Incredibles attraction. You know the pods that travel around that island? There's an idea to turn them into that. I'm excited to see what it'll turn into. They can't leave that track up there with nothing on it!

There were imagineers on the track all last week taking pictures near the station, the monorail and star tours portion of the track.

Although it would be nice, and help with the congestion, I never see the Astro Orbiter returning atop the people mover!

It would be very tempting for me too! I can imagine some of the fun rumors I'd dream up.

Well, I think that if a rumor spreads enough and enough people expose the people at Imagineering to the truth, they will probably be forced to deliver the goods, whether they like it or not.
