Future of One More Disney Day

It seems like, for WDW anyway, that the event went very well and was very popular! Especially for the teenage and adult crowds! I only hope Disney takes note of this and decides to do this more often now that they know it CAN work being open all night!

Why not special party nights from say 7pm till 6am? With the Castle Hub Dance Party that seemed to be very popular. MSEP could be the "Party Parade" and maybe a "Grad Night" style firework show, or bring back the awesome Magic Music and Mayhem/Summer Nightastic fireworks!

It sure would be fun - but I think the only reason WDW did it was because they had no choice. I wouldn't expect anyone in Orlando to suggest doing this again unless it is done as part of another P&R campaign (which it doesn't sound like it will).

While the event was hugely popular, the crowd was heavily weighted toward CPs, 20-something CMs and APs--the guests least likely to pay for a hard ticket event. Take it for what it was, a fun, one-off event. Maybe they'll do it again in 4 years, make it a new rite of passage for CPs.

I wonder how the CM's and park maintenance liked the event?
Something tells me, not as much as the guests!

A lot of (working) CMs were clearly dragging, but to their credit, I didn't see any let it dampen their spirits. I actually had my top 3 Jungle Cruises at around 4:45 a.m. (thank you again Skipper Dean if you're reading this).

Don't know about WDW, but I was at DCA the next day and asked some CMs what they were hearing, especially since I had heard how crowded Disneyland Park was into the wee hours. I heard from a few CMs that CMs at Disneyland Park were hoping for low crowds because they weren't sure the park could handle a normal day's crowds the next day. In the entry plaza at 9:30 am (both parks scheduled to open that day at 10), CMs were suggesting that guests start at DCA, which opened early in hopes of attracting people away from Disneyland.

They do have late parties. But you have to run the Tower of Terror 10-miler or the Wine & Dine half marathon, or know someone who is. :D

I think a yearly iteration would be perfectly feasible. I don't worry about the logistics of man-power or scheduling - but I do worry about the popularity hit an event like this would take if it is no longer seen as a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence.

CM's will adjust to the later hours, and maintenance issues would more than likely get better as the company learns from their mistakes in previous 24-hour openings.

My personal idea would be maybe 2x a year even. With the MK being open 24-hours on a special day yearly, and Epcot/DHS rotating to olympic-style on the other yearly 24-hour date. Obviously, it's risky - but, it could also become a reliable staple that a good number of the locals and disney-nuts plan around each year.

My only problem with keeping DHS open for 24 hours is that it only has 6 rides and 4 outdoor shows. 1 of those rides (what's left of the backlot tour), and 2 of the shows (Indy and Lights, Motor, Action) don't work after the sun goes down. That leave a lot of nothing to do in the park.

I definitely understand the concern. For it to work, it would definitely need much more one-off happenings like parades/parties. Maybe even some booths/entertainment added to it as well, similar to how the Food and Wine Festival is added to Epcot.

Just an idea - I think there are definite challenges. MK is obviously the most equipped - and I think Epcot has a huge advantage with it's food offerings and ability to be augmented temporarily much easier.

How about just a "Late Night" party? Or a "Stay a While Longer" pass.

10pm - 3am? $29.99

Disney could start to make more money per day. And it would be a way they could charged for some 'Extra" magic hours.

PLEASE don't even suggest charging for "Extra Magic Hours".... sigh.

It already is open until 3 a.m. for Extra Magic Hours (free to resort guests) in many popular seasons when the MK is open until midnight anyhow.

I don't know about you but I tend to use extra magic hours to get more fun in at other parks. Evening EMH tend to be really crowded and not feel very "extra" at all. Having said that I would be all for EMH at one park and a paid pass at another at the same time but the logistics of it are probably not possible.

On a side note when extra magic hours are happening, can non resort guests still be in the park? Shopping, eating, etc?

Extra Magic Hrs is only crowded during like the first hr. But an EMH at the Magic Kingdom that last till 1-2 am the park will be very empty past 12. So you would be able to do half the park or more in just that last hr.

Guest without a room key will not be able to enter any shops or rides.

Back to my idea.

Today the MK only gets 1 night EMH per week. That leaves 6 other days a week they could charge you if you would like to stay later. Not the normal 3hrs, I'm thinking 4hrs.

I know I would love to be able to get 4 extra hrs a day on my trips.

They could even sell multi day "Late Night Passes" if they have this at Epcot and DHS. Admission to a pre selected Disney park for 4 hrs past normal park closing for x many days.

This weeks "Late Night Pass" options could be:

21st: MK 11-3am
22nd: EP 9-1am
23rd: HS 9-1am
24th: MK 12-4am
25th: HS 9-1am
26th: EP 9-1am
27th: MK 11-3am

I'm trying to imagine what it would be like if they had Epcot and DHS open for 24 hrs.. I don't know if it'd work for DHS though. Even though I absolutely love this Parka and could spend days in there and enjoying the amazing atmosphere, I don't know if the average Guest would stay for very long. Epcot is another question! I think this could work!

They couldn't make me leave Epcot.

Please delete your own post.. lol

Um ... why does anyone thing this thing has any future at all?

It was a one-time gimmick.

It certainly drew a record crowd during the middle of the week during a traditionally almost dead time period... heck a lot of people made trips to do it from what I understand.... so why not make it a once a year thing?
