Am I the only one who gets this, yet does not find it funny or clever?
Love that one!Addicted to hunting for Disney T-Shirts on cafepress now, there are so many great ones, here are some of my faves:

Walt's quote from the end of the Meet The Robinsons film
What I don't get is why the "Por Favor Mantengase Alejado de las Puertas" phrase is so funny/clever to people who speak English. This is something I've always wondered. Like, do Spanish speaking people feel important if they can say "please stand clear of the doors" in English?
I always see that phrase in Spanish in signatures on this forum and such and I don't get the joke. Why is it so funny and witty to overuse that phrase? It's like a pet peeve of mine. Like saying "hey look at me! I went to Disney World and rode the monorail and learned to say 'please stand clear of the doors' in Spanish so now I'm gonna say it all the time and try and look important!"
Putting it on a t-shirt is even more lame.
It's Disney World. Lighten up and have a little fun.![]()
I think it's sort of like why Boba Fett is so popular with Star Wars fans. Everybody knows who Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are so being a fan of Boba Fett sets you apart as a special kind of geek:lookaroun . . . sort of like a secret handshake.
Oh geez it gets worse. You can buy a thong with that phrase

I think many people (myself included) like the phrase not because "we think we can speak spanish", but because the quote is a Walt Disney World classic. Even though the monorail spiel changes and is updated, that classic Jack Wagner saying lives on. It's a bit like "Welcome Foolish Mortals, to the Haunted Mansion..." or "We wants the redhead!"
Eh ok. But why not just repeat the English part? Why is it always the Spanish?
Actually the thong's a little scary if you think about it.
Doors, what doors?!?!![]()

for me it is the gentlemens voice that is saying it. not really what he says.... just his accents on certain words that you dont hear everyday like, "Por Favor Mantengase Alejado de las Puertas"I guess so. I dunno. Why don't people recite the tram spiel in Spanish then? I guess I don't get the appeal.
