Hi all

We are vacationing to The World from 4/30-5/8 of this year and we are beyond excited!!! I do the How Many Days thread everyday and were looking for something else to help us countdown or prepare in a fun way!

What fun ways do you guys countdown or prepare for your trips??

In my trip for 2008, we created a flip book of sorts and used it to countdown. We decorated each page with scrapbook materials or other Disney stuff that we had. Each day we would flip the page and right a personal message on that page. It was fun.

Do you have kids... well, even if you don't... throw a countdown party!

We decorated the table with every piece of Disney World memorabilia we had in the house. We wore our Mickey Mouse ears. I bought Mickey Mouse party stuff from the dollar store (cups, plates, napkins, etc.). Had a store bought cake (which I then decorated with those little Disney Collector pack figurines). A Hidden Mickey scavenger hunt in the house was the highlight of the evening. And for a fun activity we made luggage tags (with a self laminating kit I found at the dollar store as well).

I even gave out loot bags with stuff we use on the trip or on the plane!

It was an amazing time!

The kids have been asking for another one... so I should get planning. The last one I had I invited another family who was going around the same time we were!

We made a paper chain. Each link was numbered with the days until our trip. Each day the kids would remove a link. For the last 30 days, the kids wrote a "Disney activity" to do as a family on the inside of each link. The Disney activities were things like wearing Disney PJs to bed, reading a disney book, drawing a picture of mickey, etc.

About 30 days out from our trip my mom and I would always exchange (poorly done) drawings of our favorite attractions, spots, and things we were looking forward to in our trip with the number of days left at the bottom. It was fun to think up something to draw and wonder what I was going to get for the day.

:sohappy: I love this!!! We will try it when our 89 days get down to 30!

We still have 305 days, so keeping everyone excited is a challenge! On a milestone (ie. 300 days ) I'll put on a hat from a previous trip, or pin and text/email the pic to everyone going.
We don't just countdown the day of our departure. We also, countdown the days till reservations and online check-in, etc. so it doesn't seem SOOOO far. Of course planning weekends where we all get together and watch the new 2011 planning video doesn't hurt either.:p

We have a trip planned for December of this year...15 of us going...7 adults/8 kids!!!! We make "Countdown to Disney" calendars for each family..I buy a desk calendar and mark each day with the number of days until we leave....I also decorate it with Disney stickers and put their birthdays on it and put special stickers on those days.....then each morning, they get up, take a marker and mark off that day.......it has always been fun for those kids that have already been and the ones who have not been (and do not know yet that they are going!!!!) will get their calendar within the next week or two when they find out that they are going with us in December!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sohappy:

We like to watch one Disney movie a night. Including planning DVD, Disney Sing a Long Songs and Behind the Scenes park specials (free on Netflix through the Wii!)

This year we are taking my boyfriends sister and her boyfriend. I will steal NewieFan's idea and make up little goodie bags to take on the plane filled w/Disney themed fun! Thanks for the idea!
