Fun, creative ideas

Hey everyone. My wife and I need some creative help.
We’re expecting a new baby. We’re one of those couples that won’t tell anyone until around the 13th or 14th week so no one else knows.
Here’s where the fun part comes in. We’re going to WDW in early December and we’re trying to come up with a cool, Disney World related way to tell everyone when we get home.
We thought about having our picture taken holding a sign that says “we’re having a baby!” in front of the Castle or something, but by the time we get home and get the pictures developed, my wife will be showing a bit too much to hide it anymore. We could use a digital camera, but that’s just another thing to pack/carry to the parks.
Anyone have any cool ideas?

PS Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum.

If you have the picture taken by the Magic Kingdom photo crew, you can picjk up the print that afternoon. You may have to get copies made at Walgreens or on your home scanner, or you could just get it scanned in and e-mail it to family and friends. I think this is the best alternative.

Don't forget also that you can have pictures developed right at Disney! If it's just one roll it won't cost TOO much.

If everyone you want to let know has e-mail you could go to the Kodak pavillion in Epcot outside Honey I Shrunk the Audience and send everyone an appropriate post card (no cost involved) with your big announcement. Congrats.

Thanks for the ideas. I forgot about the WDW photo people. That one could work, plus it'd be a cool picture to keep.

I was trying to come up with something that wasn't picture related too (always have a back up plan!) like a special souviner or something.

Thanks again!

Is that your son in your avatar?

When we were PG with #2, we had our older son tell everyone, "I'm going to be a big brother!" Maybe call your parents while you are in WDW at a time when you know they won't be home so you get the machine.

(Maybe a sign for him to hold up in a photo)

Well....we thought it was cute!

I don't know if they are still available, but there used to be Disney Babies toys--Baby Minnie, Baby Mickey, etc. Perhaps you could do something with that.

These are great ideas.
You're right, there are a lot of cute baby items. I had to keep my wife from buying ALL of them before our first was born.
Its my daughter (Kayleigh) in the avatar (don't worry, its hard to tell from that shot), but she's too young to call for us.
The video message or voice message ideas are neat, but if we do that, and we're not there for the hugging and stuff that is sure to happen, we'll be in a lot of trouble:lol:
Maybe Kayleigh holding up a little sign would work....

Keep the ideas coming, you guys are great!!!!!:sohappy:

RATS!!--I knew if I tried to guess I'd be wrong!

My apologies to Kayleigh.....

Note to self: avoid gender-specific pronouns in the future

One other thought is to hold your sign up just as they take the picture in Tower Of Terror. (Though hubby may have to do this alone if she can't ride because of the pregnancy.)

Speaking of the email from Epcot, you could send one out to your family and friends addressed from your unborn baby (By the way, Congratulations!!!). My friends sent out a christmas card from their new baby boy as if it were written by him. You could do a lot of funny little things that way like "the rides are fun, but I can't see a thing from in here.."

Its ok, don't worry, its really hard to tell from that picture. She forgives you

I like the email from Epcot idea too, but I'm not sure I actually want to tell them and not be there. I'm thinking we could send something that says "you'll never guess what happened, we have big news" and then tell them when we get home.

Ha! I really like that "can't see anything from in here" idea. I'll have to work that in somehow.

the tower picture idea is cool, but you're right, I'd have to do it on my own....hmmm another reason to ride the tower, can't argue with that!!

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I haven't decided yet, so if you have anything else, let me know!!

Only 30 more days!!!!

I say you should buy lots of little baby stuff while you are down there. Then everyone will be trying to figure out why some of the souvenirs are so tiny. :animwink: Oh yea no ToT! Oh darn! :D

Hmmmm. This isn't a fully formed idea yet, but I'll post it anyhow.

There might be a way to work the signs about "pregnant women should not ride this attraction" into the message somehow. Maybe a picture of your wife next to that sign at each attraction? Or, pointing to it outside one attraction and looking bummed?

Like I said, it is not really a fully formed idea, but it looks like there might be some potential there.
