Ft Wildnerness Cabins

I'm trying to come up with the best idea of where to stay next year, in April...assumming we get to go at all. I know that prices typically go up each year, but I thought I would get a ballpark figure of how much to expect to pay per night by asking how much it is per night right now at the Ft Wilderness Cabins. Easter is Sunday April 4 next year, and we would be going the week of the 12th, so it would presumably be regular season. How much are the cabins right now in regular season?

Rack rate at the cabins is $370/ night for the week of April 12th.

EDIT: I did a real quick quote using 4/12-4/18 trip and with the current offers out right now you can shave about $100+/- per night off of that price with a package deal but it must be booked by 1/24/2009. Drop me a line with your party size, kids ages, ticket options and if you want the DDP or not and I will get you an exact price.

This would be for next year (2010), so the current promotion would not apply. However, we never know what the economy may be doing then...it may be on an upswing, or it may still be sagging, causing Disney to offer a similar promotion at that time. But your quote of $370 a night seems to answer my question...I was just curious to see roughly how much it would be per night in regular season next year and, although the rates may go up a little (or down, taking into account any special deals they may offer depending on the economy), that gives me a pretty rough idea.

::edit:: I just checked, and Easter is April 12 this year. So hopefully the week you just quoted me is in peak season. Easter is April 4 next year, and we will hope to go the week of April 12, so hopefully it will be in regular season by that time. There's no way we can afford to go for $370 a night, so hopefully our rate would be cheaper. So basically, I'm just wanting to know how much per night the cabins are in regular season based on this year's prices just so I can have a rough idea of how much it would be next year.

What is your party size and what amenities are you looking for? There are a few other options similar to the Cabins in some respects at a lower cost.

It would be my wife and I, an almost 4 year old and a 10 month old. I was reading about the All Star Family suites yesterday and that may be an option. Basically, right now at 14 months out, I'm just trying to decide between different options: The Cabins, the Family Suites, or just trying to "rough it" by packing the 4 of us into a room at a moderate resort or perhaps the Wilderness Lodge. We would really prefer the cabins, but finances may preclude that. But just to have a general idea how much it would cost, I'm just trying to see how much it would be per night in regular season for the cabins. I was thinking it was around 300 bucks a night, but I was just wanting to double check.

Our family consists of the four of us, myself, DH, DD[12] and DS[10] and we "roughed it", as you call it, in a single room at the Wilderness Lodge twice and French Quarter once. We have all four survived. It is very do-able.
If you do not want to pay the Fort Wildeness Cabin rate, there are plenty of other Disney resort options...or you could stay off site and rent a house or condo..for much cheaper. That would give you more space, if that is your concern.
When you mentioned 'roughing it', I imagined tent camping at Fort Wilderness campground. I'll 'rough it' at the Wilderness Lodge any day of the week.

We stay at Ft. Wilderness every year. Now, we have a camper, but my in-laws do not. They were looking into renting a cabin, but also looked into renting a camper off site in Orlando and bringing it in. It was actually quite a bit cheaper to do it this way(renting a camper). So, you have all there is to do at Ft. Wilderness- because in my opinion there is a ton more to do there than most of the other resorts, and a cheaper deal. :-)

Space is one concern, yes. But since many other people have stayed in one of those rooms with two kids, I'm sure we could manage as well...but I have to admit, cramming a baby and a toddler and all their paraphenelia, along with all our regular luggage, does concern me. But I'm sure we could manage if need be. But space isn't the only concern. We also just love the look of those cabins and all the ammeneties of the FW area. We would love to stay there someday, but we may not be able to afford it next year...we'll just have to see.

I had thought about one of the value resorts, but after reading yesterday, I see their rooms are quite smaller than those at the moderate resorts. So right now, with 14 months until our hoped for trip (quite a long time yet to think about it more), the possiblities are Coronado Springs, Carribbean Beach, All Star Family Suites, Wilderness Lodge and Ft Wilderness Cabins. I know the cabins are the most expensive on that list, and as far as ammeneties go, the All Star Suites would be at the bottom of the list because of the lack of ammenities at the value resorts. But again, the cabins are our first pick due to space as well as ammeneties. So I was just hoping someone could tell me how much it would be per night to stay there this year in regular season. Yes, I know the price will change a little next year...it will probably go up as prices always do, but there may be a deal next April similar to this year's deal. But just to give me a general idea of how much I can expect to pay, can anyone tell me how much it is per night right now in regular seaon?

You could also do two rooms at a value resort if space is an issue. I know you will still be lacking the amenities but sometimes 2 rooms is even cheaper than an All Star Suite.

The good thing is that kids need less stuff as they get older. I am so glad to be out of the diaper bag era...now it's books, mp3 players and Nintendo Ds to keep track of. Eventually, you can fit everyone back into a regular hotel room.
