Marvel, but that's not happening anytime soon.

Speaking of Marvel and things that don't belong in Epcot... if Big Hero Six actually made it big (I'm not expecting it), maybe they can add that to the Japan pavilion? (Obviously, it would have to pass the "not part of any family" link to existing Uni stuff, which is a debate unto itself)

I say put Godzilla in there. Get the rights to the new movie, finally build that simulated bullet train ride through Japan, and then have the monsters duking it out at the end.

What ride idea would fans immediately think "had" to be built? Movie-based dark/boat/coaster based on current in-theaters hit, with accompanying "new land" area, to retire/rehab/punish icky unwanted "old" attraction...

And one thing I credit the real Imagineers with, even THEIR false rumors are more creative, and they know specifically where to spread the story. (Screamscape, Jim Hill, etc.)
If it was an officially sanctioned in-house fake, we'd have seen the full-color concept art gone uber-viral on half a dozen websites by now. I'm guessing this one was third-party.
Of course they are. But, always good to know where you place your value when it comes to supposed lies....

Just a side note... On Orlando United, a respected member of the community over there said to be prepared for a lot of false rumors to leak out about future plans for Walt Disney World... Is it possible this is part of that, if this is true about loads of false rumors? Get the general public hyped up on Disney and WDW, keep the focus on them and not Universal (cause let's face it, Disney has nothing in the pipeline to respond to the Harry Potter hype), get people talking.... Long shot I know, but maybe?????
Well, if that's what they are up to it was a huge backfire. Instead of getting people hyped up for Disney they incited a riot complete with "virtual" pitch forks. I know they say no publicity is bad publicity, but this could not have been the reaction they expected.

No no no... you see they only want characters that attract kids in WS (what with the France and Norway rumors) which makes sense, because I know my kids are heavy drinkers and like to purchase overpriced "authentic" cultural merchandice. So, you take the bullet train idea but reskin it to a Catbus ride. Board the catbus and ride through the magical lands of Studio Ghibli. Disney already has distribution rights on those movies, so maybe the licensing wouldn't be too difficult.

But it's NOT Japan! It's San Fransokyo!
(Which, of course, just brings the "Is Arendelle Norway?/Is Agrabah Morocco?" discussion again, but this time...let's just assume it's already been made, and move on. Saves time, that way.)

Y'know, just in the last week, I've seen a dozen posters say "Let's put a Godzilla/Mt. Fuji bullet train in Japan", after I'd already told the story about how Disney actually did have concept-art plans to put one in when Epcot was first being built, and Toho licensing put a quick stop to that.
Yeah, I know, probably got subconsciously stuck in your head, but look....Just FORGET I ever mentioned it, okay? I thought I was just telling old park-trivia anecdotes--Sheesh!

Wow. Talk about sucking up all of the oxygen in the room. @EricJ you are taking all of this too seriously.

@HTF drops that Ratatouille is under consideration for WS, then @pheneix and @WDW1974 both drop that Norway-Arrendale is a go. At the very least this means that WDI is seriously considering forever changing what most consider the purpose of Epcot.

@EricJ seems to think discussing this possibility will make it happen. I disagree. But I understand his concern.

This looks and feels like easy defensive moves to freshen Epcot and increase merch spending at the park. Basic business motive, the type of stuff folks have been asking for, for years. Yes there are other things they can and should do, however, nothing that would be as cheap and profitable as adding Frozen and the Rat to WS.
HTF said there was something going on in France pavilion.

I know it most likely won't happen. That doesn't mean I can't think it's a cool idea. Also, just because of what happened back then doesn't mean Disney couldn't work out some kind of deal with Toho now.

Or, if you can't get Godzilla, go with Gamera. Gamera is friend to children, and I imagine he'd be a bit cheaper, to boot.

A redo of a small dark ride hardly seems like the source of significant hype.

Guys, for the sake of discussion let's say an owl came by and told me that Norway will remain as-is and that the Frozen ride is just going to be Fiesta Tour'd into Norway.

Also, for the sake of discussion, let's say the same owl has also advised that I have real, honest to god, IMAGINEERS reading my posts! I am so flattered that I am receiving so much attention! I feel like these honours are mainly reserved for @WDW1974!

Okay, but I'm not going to go for it. The method of asking for too much but then getting what you wanted all along wont get me. This just comes back to the original discussion of how Frozen makes no sense in Norway or their culture.

Well, almost 2000 posts behind us now. A little heavy on the bickering here, no?

I don't have any inside information, nor any inside connections, just a history of being a fan and visiting since 1978. I do have a very rudimentary understanding of how the company works, and in the world of publicly-held companies today, the constant push for quarterly results that they operate in.

I think (I'm not saying I like or agree with the idea) that this all sounds realistic. It doesn't seem over the top, blue sky, or any kind of craziness. What it does seem like to me: a much needed refresh of an aging attraction, one that is riddled with issues, not the least of which is a serious mold one; a company who has a new fiscal year beginning October, and has enjoyed raking in a boatload of cash this year, a fair amount of it attributable to Frozen; a desire of the 'average' WDW visiting family to be able to get some type of Frozen 'experience' (currently limited to the M&G and FoF parade), due to the continued popularity; and some executive movement that appears to support the development of this type.

In my opinion, it is sparking such a polarized debate because we are all after a similar dream...we'd like to see improvements at Epcot. Too many things have been left to rot for too long. Changes have been made, some additions, some removals, but overall, the positives really haven't outweighed the negatives. Again, my opinion.

Imagineers are reading this?!?! In that case, STOP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND LEAVE MAELSTROM ALONE OR YOU SHALL FEEL THE WRATH OF ODIN!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I just had to get that out.
