I hope that they really are looking at those designs for The Snow Queen ride that Marc Davis made for inspiration with the Frozen ride. Those were absolutely gorgeous. It seems like they put that in there for a reason.

While I would love that, getting the feeling they are going to go the cheap overlay Maelstrom route. Which would be really sad, they couldnt handle the crowds with the meetngreet how do they expect to do it with the ride in its current size/location.....
or maybe they are dusting off the plans for the princess pavilion between mexico and norway...dont know but should be interesting,,why do they have to keep ruining epcot. Its like a filler park now. Cant do anything new ever always have to overlay into something. But all of that could be wrong, just thinking off top of head lol.

Not reading any of this so sorry if repeating. Just throwing in that this Frozen replacement for Maelstrom is a real project that's really happening and it just got hit with a joyous round of value engineering before getting a green light.

You guys should see the Frozen mess they pitched for Matterhorn in Anaheim. That's an even bigger laugh.

More like replacing the ride entirely in concept and dealing with the removal of all references to Norway and a total re theme of pavilion as a consequence.

Epcot is dead guys and the corpse is about to stink REAL bad. If Universal is not your thing, so be it, I won't urge you to go there. But if you are really passionate about Walt Disney World as it was in the past and are frustrated at they way things are now, I suggest that you find new passions and new hobbies to occupy your time. There is nothing but frustration and heartbreak to be found at WDW from now on. The same is largely true for DLR in Anaheim as well but I give them a good 3-4 more "good" years of being fun to visit before it becomes a downright hostile environ like Walt Disney World 2014.

Sad. All good things come to an end, and Disney's run as the king of theme parks is one of them. Everywhere.

Thank you for the info, I'm seriously upset.

I agree. Supposedly the most successful animated movie of all time and it's getting the laziest, lamest execution possible for theme park use.

Not that anyone should expect any different. After all, it's Walt Disney World.
Any idea when Maelstrom is supposed to close? I might as well know when to go to pay my respects

I am disappointed and depressed as well. I thought I'd never say it because I thought I could never stick to it, but...
MAKE THE POINT WITH YOUR WALLETS, PEOPLE. Very disappointing. I am Scandinavian in descent, and I now know that Disney thinks ice princesses are more appealing than our rich culture. Ugh.

If they cram this thing into Norway how do they plan on the massive crowd control issues they are going to have, didnt they learn from the meetngreet? Its too small of a space, if all this is true they have flipped. Frozen deserves better and BIGGER. Something that can handle the people. You wont even be able to get near Norway. If they rename it Arendelle then the park should be renamed Tooncot. :depressed:

You watch this isn't the end of it, they will continue to shoehorn more and more cartoon characters in EPCOT to drive attendance and capacity away from MK. Kiddie-fy EPCOT. Just unbelievable. This truly is blasphemes. This isn't what EPCOT was designed to be. Please don't anyone of the usaual suspects come on here and try to spin this. There isn't anyway to spin it. Maelstrom was ( is) extremely popular and now they want to ruin the essence. Just unbelievable!

You watch.....you watch what EPCOT will look like in ten years. It will be MK 2.0....I am telling you. They wont build another gate....they will just transform this one. Go ahead TDO....keep pi$$ing off your base....BRILLIANT!

It is rather insulting, really, that this project to replace Maelstrom was born out of the basic idea that they could work Frozen IP into the ride while basically pretending that it still took place in Norway. The new ride will certainly be larger in scope than that, but if you get mad at things on principle, this absolutely is a justifiable change worth being upset over.

Frozen toons in Norway? Yes, Walt Disney Imagineering truly is that stupid.

I'm more concerned about the Matterhorn idea.
Merely pitching such a thing should be a firing offense.
Should be but its probably a pat on the back from these idiots ruining Walt's legacy. Not that Epcot was anything like Walt intended, but the thought of a whole contry's pavilion disappearing because of a cartoon, makes my blood boil.

Last march will officially be my last trip.

I find that one hard to digest too lol, surely that won't happen...errr yeah it wouldnt surprise me if they were that crass. But here Im worried about them abolishing Norway outright, making it Arendelle. would they go that far??? If they keep it Norway and somehow tie in the frozen ride to Norway I guess I would prefer that to the latter. Though I don't want any of it in Norway. Next door fine, but not Norway.

Not even next door! Its world showcase, not cartoon fantasy world.
