Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

Update---I can confirm Norway is not going away. While the official source could not go into details, the meetings did go well last week actually. Though without government support it was difficult, but sounds like something was agreed upon, just maybe not as much as Norway had hoped. But I can tell you Disney does understand the need to keep some "Norwegianness" in place. Yes the pavilion is going to be revised and updated, but its sounding like Frozen might be a tool used to showcase Norway. Hopefully. Though the word Frozen was never mentioned in the info shared with me just words around it that I think alluded to it. There was more but it could not be shared at this time with me yet.
Thanks for your update. You don't disappoint!

Sounds like it will indeed be getting the Gran Fiesta Tour treatment. Adding in the characters trying to showcase the culture and scenery of the country. Don't like characters in World Showcase, but I can accept it if they do it this way. Still think they made the Three Cabelleros too much of the focus of the Mexico attraction, when they should have been taking us on a tour, not looking for Donald, or watching his antics. If Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff whatever his name is, are only taking us on a Norwegian tour, then I can live with that. Wish they wouldn't stoop to the characters, no need to in my opinion. But it is livable.

Thank you for your information!

Maelstrom gets far bigger crowds than the Mexican boat ride, which goes against the idea that people go to Maelstrom just because it is one of the only rides.
When I was there last October, I walked right on to Gran Fiesta Tour. I fast passed Maelstrom and good thing I did. I was in Epcot twice, and both times, maelstrom was over 45 minutes.

Although it would be unrealistic, at this point, to hope for no presence, I can begrudgingly accept a Gran Fiesta Tour treatment.

Perfect. I am one of those that think this will be quite successful and a template for the future of WS.

I want to repeat that I do not know in what form/story/implementation that they plan on doing with Frozen. But from what was told to me it sounded like it "may" have Norwegian aspects to it. It all seems pretty tight lipped regarding Maelstrom/Frozen so far. It could also go the other way and not be tied into Norway at all, which would very much be upsetting (to me anyway) and idiodic on Disneys part. Lets hope it turns out to have Norwegian vibes. Norway knows its going to bring flocks of people to the pavilion, and I believe they want it to convey Norwegian tones. Whether that happens or not......hopefully more is known soon.

If last week's talks went well, then it would seem reasonable that Norwegian investors would not want to lose the essence and spirit of Norway in the pavilion.

I do hope that Frozen's presence will not have an impact on Holidays Around the World and, specifically, Julenissen. I do not want to see Olaf singing his summer song

Well, it's the closest thing to a thrill ride in World Showcase. Mild drops and such, but still a bit more excitement (and a very small chance to get wet) than Mexico.

Just thought of something, yesterday spiritofnorway posted that they will not be using Norwegian cast once the frozen ride opens. Thats not a good sign that the ride will have a Norwegian theme or attributes. Its kind of opposite from the sentiments shared with me.

If the attraction will be down for 18-months, then, perhaps, there may not be a need to staff the pavilion until it reopens.

Ill have to reread his post but it sounded like they would not be used in the ride, only merch and bev for now on.
Perhaps it is optimism, but I am hoping it is a temporary recruitment modification. If representatives from Norway will not be part of the attraction, I do fear the implications for the pavilion.
