I would wager a large sum of money that when this is made official (likely after it is too late to stop) the Orlando media will report the spin version concentrating on Disney upping the presence of its increasingly popular Frozen brand in the parks. They are meeting the demand of their guests by updating an outdated ride and bringing in what the public wants.

As usual, the true impact will be recognized only by us few enthusiasts who know what we have lost.

Very sad indeed. Oh well, at least the little princesses can now gawk at Anna, Elsa and Olaf. Proper placement and theming be damned.

I think it sucks that it is going in there in the place of Maelstrom, but I will withhold judgement on the final product until, well, it is final. All I know is that when it does close, that crazy bright eye guy is full of crap because someone will be the last to go on that voyage ...

Didn't @pheneix state the whole pavilion was going to become Arendelle and no long be Norway but that was shot down by 74?

I thought that pheneix said that was the original plan, but he said that due to deceased funding that it would just be the ride/shop that would be changed and the pavilion would remain Norway.

Possibly. I pretty much thought he or she stuck to the whole Norway being turned into Arendelle, name and all. And 74 said no. But of course, @pheneix was also ripped a new one from the resident trolls around here for that comment too. I do remember that.

Actually, come to think of it, I do recall @pheneix saying it was a done deal, green, and happening. As a fact. And only backing off when certain banned members jumped on him/her.

Things may have changed again also since those remarks, or a higher budget was given. Im waiting for a response from my contact in Norway who was here last week headlining those meetings, just to get further confirmation and maybe details on what went down or is happening.

I am so sad. I was counting on riding it in October. Now, I will never ride again.. I remember too well how offensive I found the Three Cabellero overlay in Mexico. There are no words.

Put cages for humans under the Tree of Life.

Replace an entire pavilion in a World Showcase with a fairy tale princess land aimed at fleecing the parents of girls between the ages of four and ten.

Invest billions into wrist bands instead if attractions.

Don't know when I'll be back to WDW, but this decision just pushed the date several years back.

I rode it four times on my last visit. (One time the ride stopped. It was just past the polar bear. Kinda cool).

Attendance doesn't seem to be hurting, so I don't know how wrong these decisions have been.

As for the bands, remember, that wasn't TDO, that was Burbank's call.

My only hope is that Disney will do a good job integrating Norway into the new Frozen attraction and not completly destroy the Norway culture. I hope everyone who cares sends mails and letters to Disney demanding no more destruction of Epcot and its purpose... Cause I have to admit it kinda looks bad. Well, atleast now people wont complain about the old movie, cause it wont be a movie.

Just another step in the deconstruction of EPCOT. Probably should change the name to Walt's Bar and Grill.

This decision sucks on so many levels. Ruins any chance of a good frozen attraction. Kills the world showcase even more, effectively kills the Norway pavilion. Possibly opens the chances of more bad tie ins like this.

Its all true! Maelstrom will close down in the end of september to be turned into a Frozen attraction.
Today I recieved the last piece of confirmation to this... There are no more scheduled arrivals from Norway for the attraction or merchandise division of the pavilion after october. And in the ad posted today by International Services (the recruitment agency Disney hires Cast Members through in Norway), they only offer food and beverage positions, no merchandise or attraction, so most attraction Cast Members will most likely be transferred to merchandise or food and beverage. Its a sad day for everyone who hoped Disney would take use of their brains and not destroy the culture of a country and replace it with a cartoonride. Everyone agrees that Maelstrom needs attention, but why not fix what they had for over 25 years and still brought 10.000 Guests every day instead of letting it rot apart!?
