Is there a long-term plan in place to convert each World Showcase pavilion into a movie-based pavilion loosely inspired by a particular culture/country? If not, it seems really strange to have the fictional land of Arendelle positioned between a Mayan temple and the Temple of Heaven.

Personally, I find it to be culturally insensitive and geographically irresponsible.

The pavilions require refurbishment and reimagining, not a Fantasyland makeover.

It would not be Norways money per say, but a company. It was sounding pretty positive, enough so that meetings will be happening. All we can do is hope an agreement is reached from this.
I'm not 100% sure on the situation though. Is it that, if we get their money, we get an e-ticket in the place of Maelstrom, and actually Norway themed not Frozen?

I think it would mean Norway staying as Norway, (which is what worries me the most) and maintenance and other updates. Personally I think Frozen will come to Maelstrom no matter what in some form.

If anyone from Disney (most likely) or Norway (doubtful) is reading this, please note the response. I, of Scandinavian descent myself, would prefer to ride a true, epic showcase of Norway rather than a Frozen boat ride jammed in World Showcase. Hopefully a deal will be reached in order to improve Maelstrom, while still keeping it's base story and scenes intact. Norway is a real place, not a fictional kingdom. Please remember that. :cyclops:

I being of Norwegian descent as well, totally agree. And can tell you so do others, whom are involved. On the nonDisney side anyway.
I wouldn't mind Frozen quite so much if it has a Norway tone/direction/tour, and not just wheres olaf or a watered down cheap movie overlay.

When I was a kid I loved this ride. I would always want to go on the "Norway ride" as I called it and it did make me interested in the country, maybe I'll visit some day. If it was changed to Frozen the potential of kids becoming interested in the country itself through the ride would be completely lost. It would just be another part of Frozen mania for little princesses to gawk at. Don't get me wrong if there was a proper Frozen ride (or land) built in MK or DHS I would gawk just the same. It's just wrong in Epcot.

I am far from being a Disney imagineer or insider, but I cannot help but wonder why there is not a grander plan for Epcot and its future.

To me, Future World is already a hodgepodge. Several years ago, there was a rumor circulating that Future World would be renamed Discovery World/Land/Showcase, concrete would be removed in favor of more landscaping and the focus would be less futuristic and more current science and technology. Clearly, this has yet to happen and I am not sure if it ever will. However, there is blurred purpose as to whether the aim of Future World is to celebrate promising ideas and technology (e.g., Living With the Land, Universe of Energy) or generic aspects of science (Soarin', Mission: Space).

The conversion of Norway to Arendelle, to me, would only further the uncertain identity of Epcot. The introduction of a fictional land truly detracts from the integrity of a World Showcase.

Is no one asking, "What is this park and what do we want it to be?''

The park makes plenty of money, that is why.

That's the thing. Disney has no idea what their parks are about, nor do they care to learn what they are about as long as they keep raking in the dough. Thus, they just through money-making IPs wherever there's space that's cheap to build on.
