Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

Really? So, in the midst of all they're doing right now, people can still accuse TDO of coasting?

Are you being serious?

They just spent how many years building the underwhelming New Fantasyland? Their next big project is Disney Springs which has sat vacant for years after the massive miscalculation with Pleasure Island. There are no major new attractions until Avatar in 2017/18. And all the while, Disney is jacking up prices, making cuts and adding upcharge events! The only thing being built with any sense of urgency is time share units.

I don't think "coasting" begins to cover it.

World Showcase - A Showcase of the World.

Paris, Rome, Marrakesh...
Beautiful historic cities from around the world.
Landmarks from around the globe are represented in intricate detail.

Point to Arrendelle on a map.... WOOPS

I see three options here.

1) A overlay narration like Gran Fiesta Tour
(Can anyone possibly vote for this?)

2) A revamp based entirely on the movie.
(Everyone has their own opinion, but a ride based on a Disney movie would stick out like a sore thumb in a place dedicated to realistic representations of foreign buildings and cultures....)

3) An attraction based on Frozen, but with information regarding its derivation from Danish author Hans Cristian Anderson's "The Snow Queen", and how story elements are heavily based on Nordic culture.

With a heavy cultural tie in, I could see it fitting. But if Norway gets replaced with Arendelle, then they can't call it World Showcase anymore.

"Por favor Mantengase alejado de las puertas. For those standing please be sure to hold on to the hand rails. To your left is the grand Spaceship Earth, a journey through mankind's history. To your right is a large lake surrounded by restaurants, shops, a few films, and a ride or two."

There are no major attractions announced. Remember, there have been rumors that in the wake of NFL and Avatar, they now want to hold off on announcements until work is already well underway.

Rumors from where?

Rumors from Wishful Thinking Land.

Disney's MO in the 21st century is to announce things years before they happen (if they happen at all). I'm not holding out much hope for a surprise attraction of any substance in the next few years.

There's also the new theater for FOTLK, which folks here have been very impressed with. New nighttime entertainment is coming to AK. Disney Springs seems to be coming along nicely. The 7DMT and FOF parade just debuted, and people seem very pleased with those.

All of those, with the exception of 7dmt mean very little to the "majority" you often speak of. The majority that don't care if Frozen overlays Maelstrom would mostly consist of average park guests that aren't on forums such as this. The same group that doesn't know FOTLK just built a new theatre, or care. Same group that doesn't know the names of parades or nighttime shows let alone memorize them and know if they are new or not. Disney Springs is shopping and dining and as @Daddio has made clear all day, most families don't find that enjoyable or at least the kids don't, so I don't think they will factor DS as anything adding real magic to their trip.

The majority DOES look for what's new and shiny and If they can actually ride it. 7dmt will help with that but I don't see many families booking vacations just for that. FLE is old news already since they have opened it in phases. HP2.0 will be more of a revenue stream for Disney than FLE since people WILL book trips for that (hp2.0) and probly visit Disney on their trip.

im sure some average visitors (majority) do a little online research and watch videos and get familiar with some of WDW but Most aren't doing that. they Will Just show up expecting Disney to have rides to ride and shows to watch. That's it. If anyone chooses to cite this majority as the reason why Frozen in WS is a popular idea, and should go forward, they would be foolish.

If that's really your entire point, just post "my kids would like this" and move on. No one will care one way or the other and we can all move on.
The simple fact is, "kids will like this" is a far stronger argument than the empty arguments regarding Epcot's supposed original purpose or it's 'soul' or because of some strange desire to limit IPs.

Again, I'm not arguing for Frozen taking over Maelstrom, but I do think that the Norway pavilion is a good place for a Frozen attraction. I firmly believe that such action will make WS more enjoyable for many families.

I guess that you mean 'forums with a bunch of complainers who grouse that disney can't do anything right. You can't mean WDW fan forums because other really big WDW fan forums don't have near the level of angst over this issue.
