I think they are the same person, both live in London, same height, same face, both wear blue dress, SAME VOICE. I think I'm on to something here haha

Yep that would be voice actress Kathryn Beaumont supplying the voice for both Wendy & Alice

Plus what's the big concern with her looking similar to Rapunzel? So what she looks like her? Animators realized the huge popularity with Tangled, and now animators are trying to attract a similar crowd with a similar girl. Either way I would have never bothered to compare them... What good does it do? Nothing, Disney is to far into the project to change her.... Why complain? Just enjoy the movie...

You kinda answered your own question. They are too alike. Would you be OK with a new princess who looked just like Snow White- but with blonde hair? Or another Ariel, only a brunette? Even her mermaid sisters looked different.

Point is, she looks like an existing character. That's all. Would it stop Disney from doing ANYTHING because, OMG, someone on a message board is complaining?! No.

Do keep in mind that animators do take elements of the actual voice actor/actress and put that as features of the animated character. In fact, back in the day, the actual actors or actresses would actually act out scenes from the movie to give the animators a better sense how to draw and animate the scenes. So it may seem like she looks like Rapunzel, she could very well be modeled after Kristen Bell. Well, not entirely but there probably are some elements from Bell's physical appearance that the animators transferred to Anna.

Rapunzel is always blonde in every version of the story.....and have you walked around Norway in WS? Almost every girl that works there looks exactly like Anna! The likeness was inevitable, and also, I'm sure, coincidental.

Actually no, I wouldn't care, characters end up looking similar when you use the same style with a similar purpose. This thread is fine on not liking it, it's just other people out there whom I've heard complain nonstop, acting as if Disney would change it if they kept on fussing about. All I can think is "What good will it do even caring? It'll be a cute movie and it will mostly likely be a smash hit." That's mostly what I'm going at.... :)

Denmark, Norway and Sweden are considered Scandinavia so it would fit better then Aladdin in Morocco.
I know that. :) That's why I said "Still fits though... Kinda." It's just that Norway is only part of Scandinavia. Which I thought might get on some people's nerves by saying so due to the fact that it isn't 100% Scandinavia. :)

Plus Morocco has over a 90% population of Arabs, it fits well IMO. :P

This is Disney's 3D art style for human characters, like Belle and Ariel have the same style face as that is Disney's signature 2D style. Penny feom Bolt also looks similar to Rapunzel although she came first. Wreck it Ralph is the exception as they are highly exaggerated.

Whaaa.........? Belle and Ariel look nothing alike.

"Disney" as a whole doesn't have one "signature" style for 2D or 3D. An individual, or sometimes more than one, animator creates these characters. They have to be approved yeah, but they are unique to the people creating them.

Ariel:

Huge eyes, very youthful looking- her supervising animator was Glen Keane, who used his wife as a model. Keane also animated Rapunzel, which is why these two do look alike despite the difference in medium.

Belle:

Different eyes, nose, lips, and face shape. She also has a more mature look than Ariel and appears to be at least a few years older. Animated by Mark Henn and James Baxter.

There's no reason for leading characters to look as similar as Anna and Rapunzel do, same medium or not.
