Frozen Ever After opening day

I'm curious - when she is down, does the face projection still work? This is one of the perils I have worried about with those new fangled faces.

She really is impresssive. I remember in the first videos it was hard to tell if she was entirely a projection because the movement was so fluid. I hope they get this sorted away quickly - it's likely something that would have been figured out beforehand in testing had the attraction not had such an "excellerated" (for Disney) time frame.

At least we can take comfort in the knowledge that she is very unlikely affecting the structure in such a way she cannot be readily fixed and we don't have disco Elsa to look forward to LOL.
Lately I've been having a hunch that reliability might be one of the areas they skimped a bit on with how cheap this was rumored to be.

Is it possible?

Well I don't think reliability is exactly a line item LOL - but I wouldn't be surprised if under other circumstances more rigorous testing would have been done to uncover whatever flaw is causing this.

I have no idea whatsoever so take this with a liberal dose of pixie salt, but given the motion is so dramatic yet fluid, that there may well be some materials used in joints/etc that couldn't hold up to it running all day every day. That said, I don't think that is such a difficult thing to surmount and hopefully this won't be something we will have to live with for years.

That's kind of what I was getting at. Parts used that couldn't hold up, maybe even "cheaper."

It's a real head scratcher as to why these "new ride hiccups" are still persisting months later. I would really like to know if any of our insiders have knowledge on this subject.

@marni1971?
With FEA, when the AA's go down, they go into a "B mode" where they just smile and wave.

Only got to ride it once this trip at rope drop...otherwise couldn't get a Fastpass for it, ride was down, wait time 120minutes, etc...but when I saw it everything was working. If I didn't think about where it was located, then I certainly liked it...could be another additional minute like seven dwarves...that exit hallway though...add some artwork or something???

This!! Its like they didnt finish it, at the end of it as you enter the shop are two beautiful Norwegian paintings, they could add more things like that as you walk through, but I guess can't showcase Norway too much. :banghead:

For the smile and wave thing, skip to 6:22 in this video.

Thanks! I've actually seen that somewhere before, but it's fun to watch it again. It's cool how Elsa is programmed to wave when the ride gets stuck like that, although her face looks a little weird. I wish I could see a video where she's singing but her arms aren't moving. That's gotta look REALLY weird.

It's actually not as weird as you'd think. But it was noticeable.

This is a very minor update, but a frozen-over fountain has been added behind Olaf in the first palace scene. I'm not sure if this was something planned but not installed in time, or if it's an attempt to make the scene a little less bare after the fact.

I only rode it recently. It's possible I never noticed since it was my first time riding.

Finally got to see this over race weekend. Could not ever get a FP, even in advance with my DVC reservation. Got there at opening and walked right on. They actually opened Epcot about 15 minutes early and let us go all the way to Norway.

Nice queue. Really well-done attraction. Everything was working. Would ride again. When I exited the wait was already up to 40 minutes. Grabbed a tasty cinnamon roll at Kringla. Happy to see they were open for breakfast.

My sister texted me later that night and asked if it was worth a 120 minute wait. I told her nothing is worth a 120 minute wait.

Totally agree. I thought it was really well done for what it was. my biggest problem is the Let It Go sequence being very underwhelming because they could be done so much more with that while you're going backwards. Not worth 2 hours though. Hopefully as new stuff opens at Epcot and Frozen Fever does down, the line will become reasonable.

Of course, this review ignores the placement. I don't think it is the Epcot ruining travesty others do. I think it was done done as tastefullu as adding Frozen could be done (They didn't turn all of Norway into Arrendale or make the entire pavilion covered in eternal winter. And other than the ride entrance, all the frozen is to the side of the main Norway). Still, I don't think this was right to put it here though. It's Norway enough that I wouldn't say it's awful (the same way Radiagor Springs is just California enough to work), but it's not placement I'm happy about either.

In a vacuum I'd give it a B+ or A-. With its location, B- or C+(if I'm feeling grumpy). Which isn't bad since, to me, Maelstrom was just a B- anyways.

I know this is off topic but how did you like the Poly? I know you are an AKL fan and those are my two favorites (for trips when I am willing to spend a lot!).
We loved the Poly. It was packed Saturday night with a bunch of party people. It calmed down after that. We could walk to the Monorail TTC in four minutes for a short ride to the MK or a 9 minute ride to EPCOT. Two thumbs ups. I'll have to do a short trip report.
