Frozen Embracing Norway

We just saw the new Frozen featurette prior to seeing a preview of Coco.

At one point when the townsfolk are singing about their Christmas traditions, one of them says (and I'm paraphrasing) that they bake cookies in the difficult shape of Norway, and then show a huge cookie in the shape of Norway coming out of the oven.

It seems they are positioning Arendelle as a city in Norway, rather than as its own country.

Makes more sense this way however now causes issues.. Elsa is queen of Arendelle right? You can't be queen of just a city lol

Could be a regional area of Norway. Great Britain had several contemporaneous kings at one time, not to mention that it's currently several kingdoms.

Before modern times with our notions of sovereign nations with clearly defined borders, kingdoms, tribal areas, and empires had loosey-goosey boundaries.

True, but they are calling it Norway in the song in the featurette.

I find it funny that they are now driving character plot lines based on the countries found within the World Showcase...

True Disney corporate synergy right there... lol

Can't wait for the new place-setting shorts: Pinocchio's San Giovanni Adventure; Snow White and the Oberammergau; Crosby and Hope's Road to Morocco... Now with Aladdin.

Oh lets get hostile Mr stuffed shirt and I hope I earned an ignore from you. There's little genetic drift between whats now termed "Germanic" and "Scandinavian" , you did a nice gloss over a couple of millennia.
I have not said anything at all that was hostile, or called you any names, although so far you have resorted to it twice now. Nor, have you responded to anything about cultural or geographic differences. Genetics are not everything, and to point out geography and culture as a means of differentiation is not xenophobic, which is once again the reason I responded. I am glad that you are here to educate us on the finer points of European history, however it still doesn't justify calling the OP a xenophobe.

He wants to educate us with his vast knowledge but also hopes he "earned an ignore from you". That pretty much sums it up, lol

Kinda almost seems like they're ret-conning the movie to fit with the attraction's placement.

Ret-conning indeed.

I believe Disney is addressing the question by building a gated Arrendelle, Norway now. They are currently interviewing potential residents. The good news is that if you resemble any of the narrated denizens of Arrendelle from the film, even a character that is just in the background of a group scene, you have a shot. Plus, you will be allowed to be out of character for 45 minutes a day (you'll be living there after all!). Hooray for Disney for finally recognizing the problem with this addition!
