No, more like 2017.

EDIT: I actually wouldn't be surprised if they got it out by Dec 2016. Outside of Pixar, it normally takes 3-4 years, usually 3, for animated sequels, not 5-6 like you're suggesting.
2018 is barely 3 years away. just fyi. (one month until 2015)

Frozen did NOT take place in Norway. It took place in a fictional country with vague Scandanavian overtones. Truth be told, the story on which it is VERY loosely based was written by Han Christian Andersen, who was a Dane. So if it belongs in ANY "real" country, it should be Denmark...

...which is why Disney put that temporary "Frozen"-themed exhibit on rosemaling in the Stave Church prior to closing it- they're already re-writing the development history of the movie to shoehorn it into the World Showcase.

Since Indina Menzel sorta confirmed a Frozen 2, it sounds like it has probably been in the works since early this year and will probably come out 2016, when the ride opens. Promotional uses? (not like it needs it)

You do know their current schedule is already full? Moana in 2016, Zootopia in 2016, no releases in 2015. Leaving 2017 empty. They have no releases set for 2017 at all That's pixars toy story 4 year and their possible dia de los muertos film. And considering how toy story was the previous record holder for highest grossing film I doubt they would want to release it in the same years as frozen their other highest grossing property. 2018 is the only year they have 2 projects again that are currently unannounced. It would seriously need to be in development right after it hit theaters for a 2017 release. And given that jennifer lee is doing a wrinkle in time for disney atm I don't think 2017 is a possibility. Plus her and chris buck stated they never wanted to do the 18 months again that frozen took and would rather take their time. So all signs point to 2018 at the earliest.

I'm telling you development is and has been underway. They are not holding off on this property. Take whatever anyone says in public anyway you want. Nothing is going to stop them from going forward.

I am not saying they aren't moving forward. Just that forward is not happening at the pace you think it is. If it comes out by dec 2016 like you say it would directly cannibalize from moana. They would never do that. So how about 2017? toy story 4 will have the june release date. And their untitled project would have to come out in either january of that year or not at all if frozen is going to be coming out in the same time period. As I would no doubt bet that frozen 2 would shoot for a november release date again. You don't seem to be giving production schedules much thought.

My biggest fear, as others have expressed, is that since the timeframe for the ride is so small the refurbishment will be minor, therefore the capacity will not be greatly expanded.

Malestorm already got some long lines, but now it will soon get far, far worst. This will make everyone more miserable from children, adults, and cast members.

You really think they aren't going to backburner one or more of those other projects? Heck, they may even hire another full team to work on this sequel. It is a cash cow right now and they're not stupid enough to sit on it for a couple of years.

They can't put any 2016 project on the back burner as that stuff is ready to go. Now the 2017 stuff isn't their department it's pixars. The only thing I could see happening is the pushing back of the untitled pixar project. But considering how that's the untitled Dia de Los Muertos film that sounds like a bad pr move. 2018 is enough time to garner hype for this film.

I am just saying that we all know how greedy Disney is these days. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Disney make a stupid move just to get frozen out in the theaters to make that extra quick buck.

Denmark...Norway...same difference. How many Americans even know that Denmark and Norway are different countries? Serious question.

Norway isn't turning down the additional tourism from the film insisting the movie isnt actually based on Norway.

I think 2018 is rather quick considering their schedule. As moana and some untitled space film were set for 2018 and giants and zootopia were supposed to be 2016. Then oddly enough Moana was bumped up to 2016...Almost like they needed the slot it was gonna take in 2018 for another project. Either way giant's has yet to materialize in any sort of announcement. Me thinks it took the bullet for frozen fever.

I just don't think they will wait 5 years for a sequel. I'd bet that the very moment they knew it was a hit they mobilized a team to start the sequel. Heck, they may have even started the sequel during the post production of the first movie. Think about it like this, they have been slamming Frozen onto everything they can in the parks and in every other part of our lives. They are not waiting until 2018 for a sequel. And Moana? Really? They'll put Frozen in front of that so fast it would make the tiki gods turn circles.
