Frontierland Shootling Gallery

This was always one of my favorites when we'd visit when I was a kid. I was wondering, what kind of shape is it in currently?

Along the same lines, when my family stayed at the Contemporary the arcade there had a similiar shooting gallery. Any chance that it's still there? As a point of reference, we went to the Contemporary when I was in grade school, back in the mid-80s.

Frontierland Arcade is still there and well worth a visit, though occasionally you'll get a gun that the aim is off. After the first few shots, you can usually compensate well enough. Last I was there, all the effects within my firing range were working, but that was last year.

The Frontierland Shootin' Arcade is awesome! I was there about a month ago, I think my gun was a little off but it probably was me! Here's a couple pictures of the shootin' arcade.

Interesting! I had no idea there used to be a shootin' arcade at the Contemporary. What was the theme, do you recall??

I'll think more on it, but I honestly don't remember. It was a long time ago since that particular visit. Part of me is thinking graveyard/ghosts theme, but I may be confusing with a shootin' arcade from another place.

WOW....You mentioning the the shooting arcade at the contemporary just brought back memories of me shooting there as a kid myself..That was over 25 years ago!!
If I remember right it was a western theme.. but I might be wrong???
Thanks,

The shooting gallery was in the Contemporary arcade when it was on the bottom floor where The Wave is now. I remember that arcade being gigantic and awesome.

To the OP, the Contemporary's arcade is much smaller now, no shooting gallery, and it's moved up to the Grand Canyon Concourse under the monorail platform by Fantasia Gifts & the sundries shop.

Just an interesting note: they load the guns at Frontierland Shooting Gallery with free games in the morning. So if you are the first person to arrive you can get a free game.

Also, speaking of the Fiesta Fun Center in the Contemporary, does anyone remember the video game they had that took place in WDW. I don't remember much about it, but I do remember you were trying to save a kidnapped woman.

My DS now a teen remembers the Shooting gallery, and still mentions it whenever we walk by it.
On his first visit while waiting for DW in the “Ladies” he challenged me to a shooting contest because he was “really good at video games.” It was the video game kid Vs an old Infantryman. After a minute he just stood there with his mouth open and watched his Dad rack up points.

I was gonna post this little story last night but was sort of afraid I'd offend someone...people can be pretty touchy sometimes. My Grampa was such a kid at heart & would say anything for a yuck. ((He was a huge Muppets fan, if that helps paint the picture.)) Anywho, when we were little whenever we happened to see one of the fellow lady guests walking around wearing the saris & the red dot on their forehead at Disney my Grampa would lean over to us, giggle, & quietly say,"She just came from the shooting gallery." I sure do miss those moments with Grampa.

I remember playing that game. It's called Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. I never got very far in the game though.

The last time we went to the shooting gallery it kind of felt like the CM wasn't actually expecting anyone to want to use it. It's almost like she didn't know what to do. Good to hear that it still is a popular diversion.

I'm really amazed that in this time of PC run amok the Shooting Gallery is even still around.

Big thumbs up for Disney not buckling under on this one. You just know some ninny has complained about it.

Last couple times I was there I have never seen a CM anywhere near the shooting gallery in Frontierland, but that could just be timing on our part.

We stayed at the Contemporary our first ever trip to Disney, back in the mid 80's, I can't remember the year exactly. I know I was in elementary school, and I was born in 1977. I'd go down to that arcade every night, since way back then they didn't have Extra Magic hours. Heck, that first trip there was only Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

I remember how big the space for the arcade was, like the size of a big convention hall.

I also remember there being a small movie theater back in the far corner, where they'd show some of the classic animated movies each night. For free I seem to remember. We saw the classic animated Alice in Wonderland one night.
