My friend is coming with us in Dec. He has never been on a plane nor has he ever been to Disney World. We are flying Jet Blue. Do they still give wings out for your first flight? Also what can I do that would be special for him. Whether it is nice or embarrasses him I don't care. I can do this in the parks, the hotels = WL, CBR. Or on the plane.

I need ideas.

well, i think that it is important to make the trip 80% about what he wants to do since you have been a bunch and he is a newbie. going at his pace will ensure that he never gets tired of being there with you etc etc. now that doesnt mean give friendly experienced advice, but there is nothing more annoying then going on a trip for the first time and the other party has no comprimising skills since they are an expert.

i think also, if you try not to over plan, let it flow because you just dont know what you are going to be in the mood for each and everyday since you are going with a first timer. they may not like the same things that you would plan.

and remember, have fun. like that is hard. lol

Bring a portable DVD player, and bring along to watch: Airport, Airport 75, Airport 77, Airport 79, Alive, Fearless, and Final Destination.

At least your flying JetBlue. Each seat has its own TV so that should keep his mind occupied. Since you are going in December, you should get tickets for Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Celebration. You can call reservations and say its his first time and they may give him something special when you check in for his favorite character, no matter how old he is he will love.

I noticed you're from NJ. Your plane flight shouldn't take over 3 hours. I'm from VA and it takes 2 hours to get to FLA. So, you can get really really excited about going to Disney, and take some Disney related stuff to look at if you want. I wouldn't bother with a DVD Player or anything like that, because 2-3 hours and you'll get to watch maybe one or two movies?... Take a mp3/CD player.. or take a pack of cards, they'll come in handy.

When you go out to eat, you can surprise your friend by telling your waiter/waitress it's your friends birthday

I can only hope I spell this right. D-R-A-M-A-M-E-N-E.
Relax by the pool or go to dinner at Chef Mickey's the first night.
Wake up refreshed early the next day and hit the parks as early as possible.
Enjoy!!!!

He is not really a Disney fan. He wants to see what its like. He says he is not nervous about flying but anytime I fly he is like be carefull you never know what can happen. And he freaked when I went to to Disney a week after Sept 11.

Well now I know I will not be the only first time flyer! I never flew to Disney before so this upcoming trip I will be flying along with my husband who never flew. He is excited, I wish I could share his enthusiasm!

All you need to do is what I did when I was a senior in High School and we took a band trip and there was a group of freshmen that had never flown before. All you need to say is that you know there is only 1/4 of an inch of aluminum between us and the outside world, lol.

Seriously just bring stuff with you to do on the plane to keep him distracted maybe cards, mp3 player, something to read so on and so forth.

When your in Disney just have fun , don't over plan and just have fun.

I am experiencing the same thing with my fiance. We are going in October for our honeymoon. She has never been on a plane or to Disney and she is scared to death. Should be an interesting plane ride. Even though it is only a 2 1/2 hour flight, I may bring a portable dvd player with us to distract her or something at least. As far as Disney goes, she only has one request............that she gets to hug Chip and Dale.

Ok, so now I know I am not the only person afraid to fly. I am already driving my husband nuts and it isn't until March! These last few plane crashes HAVE NOT helped me any.

i actually try not to sleep the night before beacuse i have a problem with planes, lack of sleep calms me down, and makes the flight attendant's job easier :lookaroun

you could have them announce that its his/her first flight

Jetblue = DirectTV on board. The best choice you could have made. As for the wings, they have them, and give them to my youngest everytime we fly.

Sorry.. not real compassionate about fear of flying.. I really like TAC's idea of DVD idea of "Final Destination" maybe throw in "Pushing Tin", etc.. ... oooohhhh that's good!!

4 Words -> "NOISE CANCELING HEAD SETS"

As far as your friend not being a Disney nut.. Don't force it on him this entire WDW cult thing has a life of its own... He'll Go into the light!!!

Be sure to ask for Birthday pins at the entrance to the parks (even if its not his b-day).. take him to 50's primetime and tattle tail on him for not eating veggies or something and they'll have to do the "airplane" to him... Maybe do the Crystal Palace and do the Pooh Parade...

On a more adult note make sure you get him to a few night time activities such as the Adventures Club, Beach and 70's clubs and other clubs at Pleasure Island. Visit the ESPN club, Jelly rolls or Brewery on the boardwalk..

Oh and did I mention WDW has a couple really cool theme parks????????

I'm cracking up at this thread... When I took DH to WDW last Feb, it was not only his first time South of Plattsburgh, NY, but it was his first time on a plane! (the amusing part of this is the fact that he works in a tropical greenhouse that imports plants FROM Florida)

Seriously, though, DH absolutely loved the airplane. He thought it was soo cool, and didn't get sick! The only part he hated was LaGuardia... We obviously had a flight delay for our second leg, 'cause it was LGA...:hammer: Legendary line of his: "An hour in an airport is like a day of work!"

He loved the whole experience so much that when I told him that I was thinking about a new trip this Aug/Sept, he jumped at the chance!
