Trip Report Friday 13 Villains Night TOTAL disaster

We went for two events, mickeys no so scary halloween party and the villains friday 13 event

We were at hollywood studios for the day and decided to stay for the villains event
Park was not crowded at all mostly due to mickey halloween party being held the same night
People started to camp out in front of hades stage about 8 hours before the scheduled start time
One booth opened up early to sell drinks and was quite popular with over an hour wait all night long.
This made walking around any where or taking photos in the general vicinity impossible
About a hour before the show was to begin we made out way to the middle of the crowd and waited
Listing to conversations and having a few of my own we found out that about 90% of the crowd were cast members not park guests
It was so crowded when the show started you could not move, people were dancing and bumping into everyone like a mosh pit
Hades and megara were great, dj fantastic, band superb. 13 popular villains, oogie boogie was the only i would be interested in meeting all others we have met multiple times.
After the show everyone tried to get in line for the villain meet and greet around the lake. There were multiple tents set up but only one very large line to meet them. The line was over 2 1/1 miles long and took over 4 hours to meet any of them.
We made our way back to the stage and watched the show until about midnight and left.

The next morning while checking in at the podium for cinderella's breakfast, the cast members there were talking about the party. They all attended it the night before and were talking about how horrible it was. Some complaining that it should have been a cast member only event and the guests should have been kept out. They were saying next year it was going to be a hard ticket event to complete with mickeys halloween party.

Is disney planning so poor these days that they did not expect it to be popular?
My feeling is that the cast members should not have been allowed to attend.
I have ALWAYS stood up for disney employees but not this time my dears
They over crowded the event ruining it for the people who were there trying to have a good time.
Behavior at times was bad to very poor.

This is one event that I would recommend that no one goes to and plans their vacation to avoid it at all cost.

Ugh, it's sounds awful and I'm glad I wasn't there. You are not alone from the other reports that I have been reading. However, I think your anger towards the CM's is misguided. It's not the low level CM's fault, it's a true sign of how poorly the company is being run by the higher ups.

We knew it be busy and decided to skip it', a one time event is never a good idea, especially one that you know is going to be popularand not planned out very well. They should have had hard sell tickets to control the crowds and make it more enjoyable. Lesson learned I hope.

Hey, look on the bright side: at least we've got a crop of cast members that actually care about Disney.

Sorry that your trip was unpleasant.

They need to hard ticket it if it happens again. Close the park at 7, add more stuff to it than just the DJ and meet and greets and you'll be good.

I was there too! It was super insane there... How long did it take for you to get a bus home?
The lines were crazy at 1030PM. My wife and I left around then cause we didn't want to try getting on a bus near closing or after...
