Free Disney tickets when you donate to children's hospital!

Apparently a local hospital in Orlando, which I think is affiliated with Disney in some way, is offering some sort of promotion on Disney tickets.

According to their website, if you donate a certain amount of money to the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital they will send you one day park passes to any of the parks. They're also giving you Planet Hollywood gift certificates, as well as some discounts to a place called Curl and Sammy Duvall at downtown Disney. You can see the different offerings on their website at www.fhfoundation.org. I actually just donated $300 on their site. It was pretty easy. With that donation I get 4 Disney tickets, a $40 gift certificate to Planet Hollywood, and 25% Discounts to a watersports facility.

I would have spent that money on tickets anyway. It's good that I can donate the money to help a childrens hospital instead. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm supposed to be getting my tickets within 5 to 7 days.

That's a great deal plus you're helping out the children's hospital. 4 one day tickets cost more than $300. They also have different levels of donation. Great find rolly128!

This is a great deal if you are looking for 1 day tickets. I don't know if they are upgradable or not. To the OP, once you get the tix, can you see if they state Complimentary or anything like that on them that would preclude them from being upgradable? I usually tend to stick with local charities, but this may be worth it.

On the donation website it specifies that the tickets are NOT upgradable. There is also an $8.50 S/H charge (regardless of number)

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't actually click on the donate link which is where the non upgrade tidbit seems to be hidden. Still seems like a worthwhile cause, just hope that people don't go into this thinking they can get karma, a tax credit (no credit since you get something in return for your donation), and WDW tickets all in one shot. Karma is always good though...

Purely from a financial perspective ...
Unless you plan on going to one park for one day only, or you are a local, it's worthless to receive a 1-day ticket (especially a special complimentary one that can't be upgraded).

This is because of Disney World's pricing structure. The price difference between a 3-day ticket and a 4-day ticket is only $6. And the 5th through 10th days cost only $3 each.

In other words, if you are going to need 6 park days, having that 1 free park day will save you all of three bucks.

I'm not talking about the merits of donating to a charity, I'm just talking about the end-user financial bottom line here ....

I got em!

I received my package from the Florida Hospital Foundation today! What a great promotion this is...not to mention a wonderful way to donate to a children's hospital.

We donated $300 and received a package of four park tickets, $40 worth of gift cards to Planet Hollywood, and discount cards to watersports center at the Contemporary and downtown Disney. The package even included a nice thank you letter from the Florida Hospital for Children.

The process was fast and really easy. I donated online just a couple of days ago, and the post man was at my door today asking me to sign for the package. I might just have to make another donation :)

Sure it doesn't save you too much money, but if I'm spending that money to enjoy the park with my family, it might as well go to a worthy cause like a children's hospital.
