Hello ,
Does anyone know if I can still take advantage of the free dining offer even if I booked with AAA:veryconfu Do I just call and give Disney the offer code and they will apply it to my ressi or how does that work??

Did you book with a AAA travel agent? If so, you'll probably want to contact them and they can adjust your reservation to use the free dining deal. We used AAA and that is all we had to do. The bummer part is that you cannot get both the AAA discount and the free dining, however free dining totally saves more money, as long as you have more than a couple people in your party.

Okay thanks, that is what I needed to know, if I could get both of the dizcounts. We have 7 in our family and the AAA savings would be almost $1000.00, but the dining would be a bigger savings? We would book with a AAA agent. Sorry I am so confused !

That is a nice savings for the room. You have to calculate how much the dining plan would be for all 7 in your party, under 3 and kids are free. It's roughly $40 a day for adults, how many days are you going for and do you expect to eat a lot while at Disney. With Dining you get a counter service, table service and a snack each day. Counters if you use them for lunch or dinner, you can get a dessert with them as well as your beverage and entree. Table service you get the same things but in a sit down restaurant. Not everyone wants to do those though as you need to book in advance where you want to eat. But if you plan the meals right you can definitely use the plan to the full advantage and spend more than the $40 a day on your food. (table meal entrees are roughly $10-almost 30 depending on what you get)

You are going to need to run the numbers to see what is better. Much of it will depend on your party size and makeup (namely the number of kids under 10) and the resort you are staying at and of course the room rate discount.

For example lets say you have a party of 4 (2 adults and an 11 and 12 year old) staying at a moderate resort. The rack rate for the room is about $175. With free dining you would be receiving dining plan worth about $168/day. A 20%-30% room discount would only save you about $35-$53 per day. $168 greater than $53 so it is a no brainier.

But......

Lets say you have a party of 2 adults Staying at a deluxe resort. The room rate is about $350. with free dining you would save about $84 per day but a 30% room discount would save you $105. So the room discount will be better.

For the most part if you are staying at a value resort free dining will almost always be a better deal than the room discount. The waters begin to get a bit muddy at a moderate and finally if you are staying at Deluxe the room discount tends to win out.

Couldn't agree more. I actually had POFQ booked on a room discount pin code for the first week of December but then Disney offered the free dining. We actually gave up our pin code and took the free dining because we figured out that the free dining was actually the better deal for us than the pin code was.

The same goes for me for my trip at the end of the month. It was a better deal for me to book as a regular guest with free dining at Pop century than any other discount. For the most part I am saving $160 per day on a $100 room. Not to shabby.

I booked my last trip through AAA and got free dining. I didn't have to do anything when I booked she said you get free dining. When we checked in the cast member said you have the free dining plan and you 18 credits each here is the paper work on how it works

We dropped from water view to standard view (we stayed standard view in June and loved the location so requested the same building and general location this time) and all it did was add about $200 onto the cost of the trip. We're actually saving about $400+ because the dining plan if we'd paid for it would have added about $640 onto our total cost (we're 2 adults). We went without the dining plan in June and actually prefer not to have it, it made life so much easier but if Disney is going to give it to us for free, we're not about to say no.

This will be our first time with the dining plan. Normally we use the TIWL card but as you stated if Disney is going to give it away it is worth it. With a party of 5, 4 of them being adults in the eyes of Disney, free dining was simply too good of a deal. I am looking forward to a bit of dining freedom as I have a tendency to look at prices first and it does effect what I order.

What we found worked for us last year when we were on the dining plan was to use the menus and do a rough plan of what we might have so we could plan out our tips. We tipped in cash and so we wrote "CASH" on the tip line on the receipt and we had all our tips already portioned out ahead of time.

I don't go that deep into the budget. I just tend to be frugal when it comes to me. When it comes to others and when tipping you would think that money is no object with me.

We usually tip 20%, sometimes more if we feel the service warrants it, we just like to have the money set aside so that we're not having to dig around for it. It also makes it easier for the server because then we are able to just leave bills and we can clear the table quicker as well so that they can get another family/couple in sooner.

Actually if you ask the AAA agent, they will give you a quote on both and let you know what is the better deal. We just did the same thing!!!! I hope your trip goes well.

Also take into account that as the AAA discount and the Free Dining or Room discount offer cannot be combined, the agents at KK can match the pricing for the offers you are looking at!!! Belle
