Free Dining Pins are out for summer

For July 1 through August 13.

Of course, we didn't get one. I get it, Disney is a business, blah blah blah. But I must say - It es me off that we NEVER get a pin code. Granted, we go twice a year, so they don't need to "bribe" us there. But it'd sure as hell be nice when I called to see if we had the pin attached to our name if they said "No sir, you don't. But you know what - You're a faithful guest who comes every year, are dropping close to $9,000 on your resort stay with us this summer. Let me see what I can do about helping you a bit with the free dining that we're giving to guests who haven't been here in 10 years."

Again, I get it. They know we're gonna come regardless, but the absolute lack of benefits or rewards they show to repeat customers is astounding to me.

I feel your pain... I've got my email on every Disney list possible, this fall will be my 14th trip and I've only received 1 pin code EVER!

Throwing a pin-code bone to the frequent guest would be nice...

Was it necessary to be this rude?
Well, it was meant to be funny. Now that we see I have his age mixed with someone else, the funny banter goes awry.

I think you have me confused with someone else. I'm 34 years old, married with 3 children.
Sorry about that. I got your age mixed up with another member. My apologies.

I will however stand by what i said that I hope your conversation was paraphrased since it is hard for me to believe they would toss around numbers like that in conversation. Also, to my knowledge, a CM cant tell a guest about a promotion unless they specifically ask about it and they just cant give them out on a whim because you got left out of a pin code. That is hard for me to believe.

Paraphrased.

Disney is just very different than other types of businesses. I'm in sales. If one of my loyal customers calls me asking if I can work out a deal for him, I'll certainly try. If they tell me they know for a fact that someone else got the same deal they're looking for, I'd almost have no choice.

The travel industry (Disney in particular) is very funny in how they price things, who they price to, and what they get away with.

That is is. Go to some travel websites you've been to before and you'll see one offer. Clear your cookies and cache and go there again, and all of a sudden something new (and possibly even better) is being displayed because it no longers recognize you as a repeat visitor. Travel marketing is a huge business and they are all looking to play the game to the best of their advantage. While I would be the first to agree that a frequent visitor reward would be nice, you said it yourself...they don't have to entice you to go there, you're already booked.

 You bet they are. They can charge what ever they want and some quest will pay it. It seems the supply and demand sense of reason goes out the window when we all go to Disney. A $50 private ticket event at home wouldnt get booked, but since we are on property at Disney, where do i swipe my card.

Once I book, I dont look back to see what I could have might have saved. It will drive you crazy. That is why you book with KK *shameless plug* and your agent will keep looking for you if one come available.

I don't get why they're sending out free dining pins for that time of year. Isn't that one of the busiest times af year? I understand the offering at slower times (like between Thanksgiving and Xmas) when they are trying to increase business but I don't get this one.

They will only do it for one reason....bookings are short of where they want them to be and they are trying to entice those that are sitting on the fence about booking.

I've been lucky enough to get free dining offer for the past four visits (6 year time span) in a row. Some have been by emailed pin while others were just availalble to the general public. Last year I had both for different times which allowed me a lot more flexibility.

From the DIS:

In typical Disney fashion, some people (such as myself) are getting CM's who are telling them they have to have a pin attached to their household to use it and being turned down, while others are getting CM's telling them they don't have a pin attached to their name, but they can get the free dining anyways.

As usual, Disney management is right on top of their employees making sure everyone knows the proper policy.

Am I the rarity? I seem to get at least two PINs per year. We booked on for our trip last May (free dining) and we booked one for our upcoming trip (% off room rates). We have tried to go at least once a year since Honeymooning in 2006.

Just spoke with another CM. He confirmed, any CM that is giving the free dining to people who don't have the pin attached to their name are simply not doing their job properly.

No kidding. Doesn't really help me though.:veryconfu

I get pins all the time, sometimes they send the same one to 2 different e-mails. DH will get one and I'll get one. Captain, the free dining pins may be something that will turn into a public code???
