great...I can continue my rant at dinner as I am denied my measly 20% off my meal for the blood sweat and tears I pour into the company every day I work while guests around me eat for free.

Darn. We check in on Nov. 2nd.

If you could back up your check in date by one day you would get the free dining. Maybe do room only for the first night. That is what we are doing for the December dates. We can't get there until late on the 13th but we will do the online check in and our rooms will be ready for the late arrival. We will get a good nights sleep and be up and ready for 7 days of Disney!

So get the free dining deal then and quit whining
I do not need to stay on property, nor do I need park tickets. I just simply want to go to a Disney restaurant sometimes and be able to get my 20% discount(plus 18% gratuity) without insane restrictions. Forgive me if I'm a little irked that my discounts have been chopped over the last 8 years while people around me eat for free.

so let me get this straight ... you prolly live local....you are not staying on property you are complaining some people get free food and you dont get a big discount....your discount has been chopped because you arent on property spending more money.

So whey dont you stay on propery and get the free dining.... oh i know because it is more money in the end. Free dining isnt really free because you can generally always find a 20 or 30 % off a room rate and then the free dining is negligble ... but i dont hear you complaining about the room rate discount people who add the dining plan on for 50 a person per night which is almost equal to free dining if you are going during certain times of the year.

there is always olive garden if you are looking for a night out and it is defintely not that expensive:)

disney discounts are a part of life sometimes they are good sometimes they arent... think of it this way you could get nothing.

Pam and Marie set us up with this and it worked out great!

Say what you will in regards to the DDP I will take one for free if I can get it. Last time I ran the numbers (which, granted, was a couple years ago and prices have changed) getting the DDP for the week was slightly cheaper for the same items bought without it (20~30 dollars cheaper for 2 people IIRC). So it is (or was, at least) in your favor to get it, IF you were going to get the food anyway.

There was a time when take care of your cast members and they take care of your guests prevailed. That ship has sailed more and more every year.

yes, I can get a 50% discount on a room for myself or friends and family, subject to availability. Which means the lower periods, when they bring people in with discounts, I have the same ability to get a discount as everyone else. The difference is I don't want to stay at a room on property multiple times a year. What I DO want to do is eat on property multiple times a year. I pour blood sweat and tears into the company and I can't even get 20% off my meal anymore while people around me eat for free. If we never had it, fine, but they have chopped away at it every year more and more. That's my issue.

That's exactly what I just did for my trip. We were going on October 5th and the in-laws were coming down on the 8th so we both moved back to the 4th but staying for the same amount of time we originally planned for.

This worked out really well for my in-laws because they haven't booked their flights yet and the days they are now flying have cheaper flights currently :)

Plan ahead and make dining reservations.

Plan ahead and make dining reservations.

What do ya'll not get that zulemara is a Cast member? I think what the issue is, is that CM's do not know their schedule until a week in advance. If you work until 5 or 6 at a park and you would love to just grab dinner at one of the several restaurants it is almost impossible now. Sure you can make a reservation and hope you are off during that reservation but there is a high possibility you won't be and then have to cancel.

Also what he/she is trying to say is that CM discounts have been cut more and more over the years. They get 20% (and forced 18% gratuity) but can hardly get into table service restaurants.

This is not about being a guest and local it is about being a Cast Member and not being able to get into the restaurants when they want to just eat dinner before they go home and not eat at the cast member lunch room for the 1,000th time.

One thing I will be doing as a College Program CM will be deciding at the beginning of the week where I would like to try and just hoping a restaurant can take 1 person.

I get it, and we were able to make adrs that my cp cm son had no trouble attending.

95% of the time he had the same week days off, or he could meet us for a breakfast adr.

How exactly does this work?? I already booked my trip and we check in on Oct. 19th, so do we miss out on it or what???

You can call and see if you can get it but if you booked with a room discount they will determine which one saves you more. You can not have more than one discount at a time (unless you are booking from the UK) and if you have to rebook to get the offer you risk not having the room you want. I believe beach club and POR are already at capacity for the discount and only regular rooms are left.

Wow- that doesn't seem right! They should have a CM only area for them to eat for free! Or at least a steeper discount than 20%. Come on Disney!:(
