i'm at POR from 7th - 24th, as the free dining is during most of my stay, would i be able to take my dining plan off, have the free dining 9th - 20th and then pay out of pocket on the remaining days? if that makes sense
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. I believe that you may have to check out then back in 3 separate times.
Check in 7 - 9
Check out
Check in 9 - 23 (14 nights of free dining, from date of check in, regardless of when the promotion ends)
Check out
Check in 23 - 24
Check out

Often they will let you stay in the same room, you just have to speak with the front desk at check in and let them know your situation.

OR! You could pay out of pocket the 7th - 10th and book FD for the 10th to 24th. Then you would only have to check in twice and not 3 times.

If your stay begins during free dining, you have it the entire length of your stay (up to three weeks). Even though the offer ends on the 20th, you would still have it through to the 24th. I have previously started my stay on the last day of free dining in December and kept it for my whole week long vacation. (including Christmas!)

I thought it was 2 weeks?

Is it two weeks or three weeks? I never get to stay that long.

I think Boo's dates may be for November... In which FD runs the 9th thru 20th.

To take advantage... Boo would need to book the FD package for 11/9 and on... Which would allow FD thru their departure of 11/24.

The issue would be the a split stay for the first two nights and tickets since FD requires minimum ticket purchase.

yeah sorry forgot to put november in my dates, would a split stay be a big hassle?

Not really. If you tell the front desk you have back to back reservations and ask to keep your room they should be able to accommodate you easy! However, I'm not sure how the tickets will work.
I say give Disney a call and find out about how tickets work with split stays (packages, not room only)

Its just up to you! What's your ticket situation? Not sure what a 17-night package even offers! MagicYourWay, Annual Pass, special international ticket?

As someone else mentioned, if staying at the same resort, Disney will most likely try to keep you in the same room.

So let's say you booked 3 nights at POR with just a room only discount, and than 14 nights at POR with FD... the ideal situation would be for you to check out/check in on the 9th, and remain in your room... Therefore allowing you to only have to unpack once!

While Disney tries their best... They unfortunately can't guarantee you'll be able to keep the same room... So there would be a chance you'd have to pack up and change rooms.

While it may seem like a hassle, with some creative packing at home... It's not nearly that bad! Your luggage can be dropped at Bell Services before you head to the park, and delivered to your new room upon return.

My only concern would be the tickets! FD will require you to purchase a 1 day ticket for each member of your party... And for some reason I remember it actually being a 3-day ticket last year... but I could be way off there!

Is "eating" a potential $200+ worth it for 14nights of Free Dinning... ABSOLUTELY!

I just got confirmation from my Disney World travel agent friend that Disney Visa holders can start booking tomorrow. The dates are exactly as posted, however there are some additional excluded resorts such as All Star movies and Port Orleans (he did not specify if it was Riverside, French Quarter or both).

Ok called back and asked, ASM and both POR are excluded, other than that everything is exactly as was posted by PrincessNelly. With Visa holders starting tomorrow and general public on the 7th.
