Just been reading the " Park Memories " thread.Great stories, some happy, some sad,but great memories all the same. But how would you sum up WDW.? Someone once said here, and I quote," it's only a theme park " is it.? Well to me it's a land where Families young & old get together.A land where they are 33 resorts to stay at.Hundreds of restaurants to choose from.Theres water parks, golf courses, shops galore, nighttime entertainment districts, live shows, firework displays, the list goes on and on.Now the reason I brought this question up." What World " is to find out how would you describe WDW as a whole. My Disney party in three weeks will have people who think Disney World is just another theme park in Florida. So before I get on my monorail to Disney dreams tonight. What makes WDW different than any other.? ;)Your answers please.

My first Disney Memory... Is in pictures I was only 18 months old. We lived in Florida and we spent about 8/10 weekends a year there. I remember when Contemporary resort opened... I remember the waffles with the Mickey shaped butter and the ABCDE tickets! ON a personal note Me and my 3 sisters were raised by my father. He had a great job.. But was overwhelmed by the fact he was raising 4 girls. For goodness sake it was the 70s AND there where not a lot of single Dads...So My dad would bring his girls to Disney World... This went on for years... I remember being at Epcot the year it opened.... Then when I became a teenager we moved to North Carolina and WDW was out of my life for now... I married at 18.. and my biggest request to my husband was that we could figure out a way to continue the WDW tradition. My husband and I bought Annual passes a year after we married.. and never looked back. Now 25 years later... All 4 of our kids where raised in Disney... Is Disney just another Park in Florida... well not to our family.... its like our 2nd home. Nothing like the feeling you get when you drive through the gates... :) Home again!

Just pull out your family's vacation pics!! There aren't smiles like that anywhere else on Earth! You'll just have to explain you have to experience the magic to understand the magic!!

The most magical place on earth!:D
A destination for all ages.:D
A right of passage for all children.:D
A place where there are no worries! HAKUNA MATATA!:D
A destination for imagination. ( I miss the old Figment).

For me, it's not a theme park, or amusement park. Walt Disney World is a place for everyone! ( No matter how much we complain! LOL J/K );)

For me, it is how we dream or wish our life could be daily. Separated from the drama and stress of everyday life. Focusing on what really matters: Family. It is so terribly hard to truly connect nowadays and at WDW you can talk to people you have never met and feel as if you have known them for years. You can look at your spouse after watching your child experience the magic for the first time and just know what they are thinking without either of you saying a word. It is MAGIC in its purest most wonderful form.

Its a world away from the world really. The moment you enter disney world its phone off, mikey t shirt on and thats it the troubles dissaper and you can emerse yourself into it all and not have to worry whats going on beyond them gates! I dont know about anyone else but when you first go into magic kingdom you just change immediately its hard to describe really you become the inner child and want to explore. At least i do anyway :)

What makes it SO different from every other theme park to me - the ambience. No other theme park seems to touch peoples lives in such a way as WDW does. Whether its a certain smell that you smell when you are back home that instantly reminds you of being on a certain ride or in a certain area of one of the parks and makes you LONG for your next trip down to the World, to that feeling of when you finally return to WDW and feel like you are returning home. Once you've been, you feel like you are part of a fellowship of sorts. You know exactly what people are talking about when they describe something about their trip to you. You can picture, taste, smell it like you are there again. I just don't see that passion in people when they describe other vacation destinations or experiences.

Hard question o_O

Disney World is definitely unique (although Universal now has the same feel) however when I went to Disneyland Paris the other month it just felt like a usual theme park which has never happened before  Maybe I'm just getting too old for Disney Parks until I have kids of my own. Even my parents think I need to grow up  even though they have been there many more times than me lol

Yeh! Grow up Andy and leave my Disney world alone.;) Have been three times to Uni/ IOA including the Harry Potter Queue, ( that was different ) Yes,I enjoyed it,but it just didn't have that magic feeling.I felt I was still in Florida, sounds silly, but when I pass thro those magic gates,I ain't in Florida anymore. Its a world all of its own.:)

We love Disney...need to preface my summation by saying that so that it is not taken as bashing.

WDW is a themed mall

Their business is to get you so high on pixie dust that you happily fork over greenbacks for merchandise, dining and experiences. I gladly do so but I have always boiled it down in my head at its' very most refined definition as a mall.
