Found out why Tourning Plans are 9 for May

I tweeted touring plans to see if they were accurate so far with the 8-9 for the week and why they increased it. They said it was accurate and they raised it due to Space Mountain Closer and the addition crowds that would appear in the park due to not standing in line at Space Mountain. Make sense sort of.

Seems a bit misleading - I can see space mountain's closure certainly raising BTMRR/SM wait times but how is it going to suddenly raise crowds at the other three parks to July-caliber wait times? If anything, I would think there will be a certain number of folks that will delay visits alltogether until after the reno.

Well, the info on the Touring Calender is specifically for MK. :shrug:

My friends are in Disney right now - we are meeting them next week down there. They said the crowds are not a 9 by any means. They are Disney freaks and go 4-5 times a year, any chance they get. They said the crowds were busier than normal for may, but manageable & not horrible. So that sounds promising to me.

That makes me feel better, even though I know it is still going to be busy leading up to Memorial day hopefully our first couple of days won't be as bad!

Guess I was looking more at it as a crowd level point of view, not so much a wait time.

I think that there will be a lot of folks who go to the other three parks because the wait times at the most popular attractions at the MK are longer than normal. So the wait times at the other parks will go up - not proportionally, though.

I agree that some number will delay visits. But most visitors are not huge fans like us, and I think the number that delay their trip will be very small.

Yeah, that is what I mean. :wave:

And, it isn't a matter of agreeing, that is what they stand for. You have to use the key at the bottom to interpret for the other parks. Heck, Len Testa has even said it numerous times on WDW Today.

Ok, I could have just saved myself some worry about our trip if I read what the numbers represented. The wait time at the 3 mountains in MK. Obviously you close 1 of them, Space, the other two will have longer wait times. LOL I should just read before worrying.

Just returned from a 7-day trip and crowds were not bad at all. Very manageable. I was expecting a lot worse with Space Mountain being down. Worst crowds imo were at the Studios on Fantasmic nights.

went out to Epcot tonight around 6:30.. stayed til close.. test track was a walk on when we got there, soarin had a 20 minute wait posted, but was a walk-on.. everything else was 5 mins or less....


Drove past MK on the way home and the parking lots looked really light.... I think the crowds are relatively dead right now....
