Here's a pic of the railroad cars turned ticket booths. (they've since been replaced with replicas)

You've got good ideas and good intentions... it's just not the place for a railroad. There are way too many problems there... children too close to the rails, swampy ground, noise, etc.

.....I dont really know how to attach pics.....?
I still can't see it... but like Poncho said, as much as it'd be neat, it's not the place for a railroad.

I Rode it my very first trip to WDW, I was 6, I still rember carrying my ballon back to our camper on the train. I don't see those mickey balloons anymore either, sigh. I wish they would bring the train back. but from what I was reading it wasn't only the track that had problems it was the train too. maybe after eisner leaves they will concentrait on the little things that made disney great again.

Anyone with the book "Walt Disney's Railroad Story", there's about 3 or 4 pages devoted to FWRR.
Quick summary: As discussed the track was a problem, although the lack of rail bending was not the issue, improper preparation of the road bed, spiking the rails and poor balasting were. Except near the rail yard, derailments seemed linked to operator error.

The trains themselves ran flawlessly, but lack of operator experience was a major problem. Fuel and water stops were too far apart, and the rookie crews didn't plan well, causing the trains to run out of steam and stranding guests.

I can never avoid the Mickey balloons. I find it really hard to believe you didn't see a Mickey balloon your entire trip. It's an invasion!

yeah last time I was there we didn't see them at all. Don't know. I really wasn't looking that hard for them either. But next time we go will be my daughters first trip and I will definitly be getting her one if they are still there..

If you read the other page listed about the FWRR the trains have been sold and now being restored. I did not get to ride the FWRR the trains where not runing back in 1980.

The old mickey balloons are back... I saw some being blown up inside a clear standard round balloon. Cool effect.

The trains and several coaches are being privately restored. They for the most part will become showpieces as there are some contractual items prohibiting them from being "steamed-up" or placed back into operation.
