Fort Wilderness Cabins Questions

We are staying in the Fort Wilderness Cabins this June and I have a few questions I know y'all can help me with!!

#1 - Do you drive your car to your cabin or park in the big lot and take the buses?

#2 - If we bring our own bikes, can we ride them down to the bus stop (the one that takes you to the parks) and ferry launch and leave them? Do they have bike racks? Do we need to lock them up? Or will people just leave our (cheap, Walmart :)) bikes alone?

#3 - We have friends traveling with us who are staying offsite in a condo. Can they park in the big lot (and/or drive to our cabin) and ride the buses to visit us? We would love to "have them over" and all go to the campfire/ movie together.

Thanks in advance everyone!!! :):):):)

I've never stayed in the cabins, but I can answer a couple of your questions...

1 & 3) There is parking for one car at each cabin. Additional cars (or friends visiting you) have to park in the lot near the entrance to the campground and walk or take the buses from there.

2) I don't know about bike racks near each loop's bus stop (they're usually only a short walk away), but I would presume that there are at least places to park and lock your bike near the major draws within the campground where you would want to ride your bike (Pioneer Hall/Marina, main pool, etc)

We've been told we won't want to take a "loop" bus to the "main" bus (bus that takes you to the parks) station. We were told we would either want to rent a golf cart or bring our own bikes to just transport ourselves to the main bus station because riding the loop bus to the main bus station takes forever?

Hey, I've stayed in the cabins a few times and might be able to help you.

#1 - Do you drive your car to your cabin or park in the big lot and take the buses?

There is a paring spot at the cabin to park one car. You can also fit plenty of bikes there, or a golf cart, (an outlet is right there to charge it when not in use)

#2 - If we bring our own bikes, can we ride them down to the bus stop (the one that takes you to the parks) and ferry launch and leave them? Do they have bike racks? Do we need to lock them up? Or will people just leave our (cheap, Walmart :)) bikes alone?

There is a bike rack at the front bus station and not far from the ferry launch as well as bike trails and such around the resort, You may want to bring a lock just in case as who knows what may happen when you are not around.

#3 - We have friends traveling with us who are staying offsite in a condo. Can they park in the big lot (and/or drive to our cabin) and ride the buses to visit us? We would love to "have them over" and all go to the campfire/ movie together.

They can park at the visitors lot, (or you can get an extra parking tag :lookaroun) and then visit you for the evening for some rest and relaxation.

It is a good idea since the buses can be crowded and can take a while to arrive. Also by bringing your own bikes you can go around the resorts biking trails.

#1 You drive right to your Cabin.

#2 Yes you can ride to both bus stops and the Water taxi to MK. I really dont think anyone will mess with your bikes. I do keep a lock in my camper just incase kids around get mischevous. It wont hurt anything to lock them up and give you peace of mind but I didnt remember seeing anyone locking theirs when we were there for Easter. We even saw a few golf carts both rental and personal ones with the keys left in the ignition.

#3 Yes they can park at the lot and take the loop bus to your cabin.

You will not be disapointed with FW. It is a great campground with so much to do.

I love love love FW! You will love the cabins and the whole place for that matter. It is so peaceful and very quiet. Everyone is very respectful of each other's property but I don't know that leaving bikes unlocked is a good thing anywhere, at home or there, so take locks. Have fun and let us know what you think when you get home, have a blast!
