Wow. Lot to unpack from this one. Good grief.

Poor Gasly. That guy is a great driver and has horrible luck

Red Bull power unit problems showing up late. They are going to have some work to do.

Magnussen. Great job. So glad for Haas.

Zhou in the points.

Thank goodness I picked Ferrari as my manufacturer in the F1 fantasy league.

Initial word from Red Bull is failure of the fuel pumps. Wonder if that’s what happened to the Alpha as well.

Gasley looked like a total electrical failure but the ensuing fire does point to a fuel system breach/related failure.
Perez looked like his engine seized seeing he spun out - could have been a failing pump?/ stepped on accelerator to compensate/ fuel pump started pumping??
Max just died out.

So, as best I understand…

Red Bull teams were the ones to not fully test their fuel pumps with the new fuel this year. Cavitation is created inside when the fuel gets low forwards the end of the race. The pressure has to be adequate inside the pump to get those last couple of liters out of the tank. It looks like that’s why the complete failures towards the end of the race. Perez’s engine automatically shut off due to no fuel to keep from damaging the engine. Verstappen had enough to get back to the pits.

And this is a new one to me…

A missile strike near the course delayed the start of FP2 today by a whole 15 minutes.
