If Outback meets the criteria for themed dining, wouldn't that Irish pub at Garden Walk qualify?

I mean... it's practically the Blue Bayou. (this is actually the one in Garden Grove btw)

Another thing to fix if they ever get around to working on DTD: Downtown Disney matches with DCA well enough, but doesn't mesh with Disneyland Park at all. The entire aesthetic of the resort is tuned to DCA 1.0/2.0 and not the reason people are actually going there. Or is that just me?
Even the hideous Disney Village meshes with Disneyland Paris better!

Actually, the theming is supposed to match up with the Grand Californian, since some of their rooms are above the storefronts. And the west end of DtD starts to look like the Disneyland Hotel.

Will it become a locals hangout, no, and since Disney is focusing on the tourist more in Anaheim, expect less local focus, and places to feed and pick up tourist merchandise.

I'm kind of shocked they didn't take the model that worked so well for the WoC pre-party that morphed into the other parties and move that out into DtD someway. Probably from not wanting to deal with the public and security.. but that dance party thing in a Disney flavor worked well.. you'd think the AP and locals would come to DtD if they would come to the park just for that.

They moved on their own.

The lease was up, Disney and Live Nation (owners of House of Blues) had discussions prior to the lease expiring as to a new lease. Besides the price, there were many other issues, including parking (a major issue), security, size of the venue and timing of the events.

Disney didn't want to improve parking (and keep pushing it away from the venue, aka longer walk), wanted events to be more restrictive in what actual acts HOB could offer, wanted them to end earlier, and wanted a lot of money to add square footage (building onto the available space that is there).

Live Nation did the math, and figured out they could do a lot better at Anaheim GardenWalk, with a close by Parking Structure with more than enough room for major events, a venue where they could have larger events, a secondary hall, and a lessor that is willing to allow most musical acts, regardless of theme. And was willing to offer a very good lease rate, as AGW sees HOB as a "primary" tenant which gets a better rate since they will bring customers to the other stores/venues.

I was reading a news story this week about Macy's and its leases, and they get some locations for free from the mall owners, as they are bring in the customers to the other stores.

Disney doesn't think that way, they felt that they brought customers to HOB. And well, since the HOB crowd was almost all locals, especially the actual concerts/acts, they didn't match up. (Yes, Disney did bring some additional dining folks to HOB, but that is a secondary market to HOB.

So yes, it was Live Nation that told Disney that they didn't want to renew, and planned to leave at the end of the lease. And I don't blame them in the least, especially as a local. I am looking forward to checking out the new HOB when it opens. It should be a much better venue for multiple reasons.

Just re-read the thread.

First off, ESPNZone is Disney owned and operated.

And I just though of another local Dinner Theater, this one themed to Adults, and shares the Pirate's Dinner Adventure facility (a smaller room that is also used for private events).

Some would say that Rock & Blues in Buena Park (owned by a couple of KISS band members) is a Themed location.

Rock and Brews...just had one open up here in Corona. Toned down Hard Rock Cafe, better food, higher priced than the closest casual dining places like Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, BJ's, Macaroni Grill and Friday's. But, we enjoyed it. Loud music, lots of cold brews on tap.

Our local ABC news was there and did a quick piece on it. (Haven't found the video yet.) In it, they show a quick glimpse of a rendering of the entrance section (basically facing the GW courtyard area) and it appears to be somewhat themed. I just don't know how much they're able or willing to do with the structure around Disney Way. (In other words, the walls right underneath the water tower - assuming that's its actual placement.) I know they seem to be going for kind of a mix of styles, and ultimately it's what's inside the box that counts, but I just don't know. I'll try and reserve judgement until they're done.

So, here's what the water tower looks like from Manchester (looking over the Pumbaa fence).

It's also visible from the freeway, so I guess from a signage perspective, Mission Accomplished. Otherwise, right now, what you see is what you get. Stucco, glass, stars ,old cinema signage and ivy. No continuity. The moment I notice intentionally weathered wood and corrugated tin, I'll let you know.
