Hi everyone,

The great news is that we are leaving for 7 days at WDW tomorrow... the bad news is that there is a lot of rain/thunderstorms in the forecast. I was hoping to get some ideas for some good rainy day activities. My kids are 7 & 5 and we are staying at Wilderness Lodge.

Do they close down the rides and or parks in case of thunderstorms?

Our thought is to spend some time at Epcot in the pavillions but I would guess we won't be alone in that idea! Also, I know Downtown Disney would be fun, but I just don't see spending this wonderful vacation with my kids playing video games!

We'll have fun whatever happens and we don't mind getting wet but if anyone has suggestions it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

We live in central Florida and I wouldnt worry too much about thunderstorms this time of year. While you may have an occasional passing thunderstorm or shower, it will usually be in the afternoon/early evening, and pass very quickly.

Believe me, you will be greatful for the cooling off you receive from an afternoon thunder shower.

Don't worry, they don't last too long, shouldn't hinder your trip at all.

They've lasted much longer than normal this summer and have come later in the evening. It's been a very strange summer for rain/weather.

Some of my favorite memories are of running around the parks in the rain. Don't worry about it and just prepare with some ponchos! This time of the year the weather forecast ALWAYS shows thunderstorms here in FL. And those of us here in FL will gladly enjoy a few "normal" afternoon thunderstorms- given the alternative we have seen too much of this season!

My best advice...just keep on going despite the rain. Take ponchos or umbrellas and keep riding the indoor rides. The crowds really thin out, so you'll get on the rides quickly! Have fun!

No Problem

Just pack lightweight plastic ponchos (and an extra pair of sneakers) and go with it. Try to do your outdoor activities like Test Track, Jungle Cruise, Thunder Mountain and the like in the mornings so you can do the inside stuff in case of a shower.

Or, as many of the showers happen for an hour or so in the evening, head back to your room for a break or whatever and then head back out.

Don't change your plans.

The forecast on my last three trips has quite literally been every day: "High in the high 80s -low 90s, low of 72. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Chance of rain 30 or 40%. That's pretty much normal from my understanding since I think every trip I've been down there has been somewhere along those lines. Oh, and next week it's going to be the same so far as I can see on WeatherBug.
